Wikipedia is seeing a significant decline in human traffic because more people are getting the information that’s on Wikipedia via generative AI chatbots that were trained on its articles and search engines that summarize them without actually clicking to the site

Some guy at a function: "I was talking with chat GPT about that the other day"

I was talking with a friend yesterday who is having some weird symptoms and I asked her if she thought it was news sickness
Every day the news is like vaccines will be illegal next week, homeless people to be euthanized, pedophiles are in control of all branches of government, everyone you love is going to get fired and/or deported, and then they cap it off with this

We're witnessing the most aggressive, fanatical crackdown on free speech in my lifetime. The speed and breadth of government censorship and private sector and nonprofit capitulation has been astonishing. As has the lack of urgency/silence from people who've long claimed to care about this stuff.

I'm playing Caves of Qud and someone is making a DLC for Planescape: Torment. Waiting for the Commander Keen reboot to declare peak nostalgia though

"They're obviously not suffering from malnutrition if they've got rickets!"

I wish for these people what they wish for the children of Gaza
I’m kind of speechless with this one. I can’t imagine the kind of person who continues to make the argument that it doesn’t count as real starvation if the kids were already sick.

These ads are comically bad. They can’t make a compelling commercial because they are selling surveillance and magical thinking.

There's talk in here about electrical rates leading to a massive transfer of wealth from the average person to data center owners. I just don't see that being stopped in this economy, with technology that has yet to prove it's profitable
As electric bills rise, evidence mounts that data centers share blame. States feel pressure to act
Amid rising electric bills, states are under pressure to insulate regular household and business ratepayers from the costs of feeding Big Tech’s energy-hungry data centers.
