Hi everyone I’m stoked to join Bluesky ✨
The internet had the potential to make humans so much smarter and interconnected. Instead, it's dumbing us down and siloing us off. A real tragedy.

I keep seeing people asking why the police aren't arresting ICE or protecting people from ICE and I desperately need you to understand that the police aren't protecting you from ICE because protecting YOU is not and never has been their function and that's why we need to defund them.

From a good friend in Minneapolis: "Target is allowing ICE to stage in their parking lots, use their restrooms, and abduct people from inside their stores - so if you weren’t boycotting already, now is the time." They were staging in Chicago as well.

"Never assume malice…" I'mma stop you right there: At this point in human history, when it comes to corporations in particular, any sufficiently advanced capitalist interest is indistinguishable from malice, so I'm gonna go riight on ahead and assume it.

if you’re at all curious about the parallels btw 1933 Germany and 2025 America, this is the pod

Finished up the last episode of this series yesterday and i can’t stop thinking about all the lessons i took from it
And at no. 1, perhaps not surprisingly given the year we've had, but also perhaps surprisingly given just how much of a downer this series is, it is [ominous drumroll]:

conveniently ratio'd for either legal or half letter size, so you conveniently can just print it out on any printer if you like, whose going to stop you (not me)

Masked ICE agent alongside a half dozen armed accomplices, screaming, gun pointed, finger on the trigger, charging an unarmed person: “I was afraid for my life”

ICE killed a Black man, Keith Porter, 7 days before Renee Good, and I hadn't heard about it until today. His vigils went unnoticed. His life came and gone and America forgot to blink.

Two Americas.

Ppl need to understand this happened like a mile away from where George Floyd was murdered

This is systematic

Black people five years ago: you know, they can kill anyone they want to out there

Everybody today: hot damn, did you know they can kill anyone they want to out there?

Hummingbirds are adorable, but what’s actually cool about them is how badass and aggressive they are
This place needs some Innocuous Discourse pronto. Quote this with a take that’s not political or aggressive

Yup. Our military industry needs violence, and they’ll make up an enemy if there isn’t one ready.

They pulled out of Afghanistan in ‘21 and managed to have Marines deployed in Los Angeles by ‘25.
Perhaps some day ppl will realize that when the U.S. bombs Palestinians, bombs Venezuelans, bombs Somali, that those bombs will one day drop on them, too.

There is no "they deserved it" or "it's a third-world shithole." There are just powerful people bombing poor people.

L take

It doesn’t matter what it’s about. It’s illegal no matter the premise.

You can’t build societies based on “rule of law” and then throw it out the window no matter the reason

People say “we need laws to stop this from happening” but we already do

They’ll say “we need enforcement” but that rarely works

we need a system where this can’t happen. Abolish financialization

If it isn’t a real good or service, it shouldn’t be bought or sold, period
“What appears to be a newly created account appeared to invest $30,000 Friday in Maduro's exit. After Maduro went into custody Saturday morning, that same investor netted $436,759.61.”
Someone made $400K by predicting Maduro's capture. Here's what happened
The winnings come as the rules governing prediction markets are still evolving.
