I'm a bit confused why TRON: Legacy it's characterized as a flop tbh. It was a nostalgia bait movie that grossed 400m on a 170m budget. It wasn't a massive hit or but made respectable profit and wasn't hated. Looking at all that it doesn't surprise me that a studio exec rubber stamped another film.
