That is truly the thing that links “what do you mean I can’t say the N word?” And “what do you mean I have to ask for consent?” And “what do you mean I can’t hit my kids?”

They cannot handle the word “no”. Hierarchies exist to tell you where you are allowed to direct abuse.

a lot of all of this fuckery we're seeing boils down to "i don't want to be forced to acknowledge the existence and humanity of people who are different than me."

Imagine if every large city made mid-rise apartments (say, 8 storeys) easy to build everywhere by default.

Wouldn’t that be cool?

The real problem in most cities isn’t that the density of people or the density of buildings is “too high.” It’s that the density of cars is too high.

Don't forget to include disabled people in your resistance. The more revolutionary you become, the more likely you'll join the disability community. To fight back and get out alive is almost always to become disabled in some way. Disabled people know how to adapt and fight continuously. You need us.

Reminder: protests are SUPPOSED to be disruptive. Otherwise they are just rallies or parades. Nobody's life or livelihood truly depends on a single stretch of freeway being open.

I feel deluged by the bad news. What I want much more of is examples of everyday people organizing, protesting, and resisting and this is a great example of that.
In moments of despair, we can find strength in hope, love, and community.

Thank you to all the organizers who brought us together on Lake Street and to everyone who came out today to fight against an unjust immigration system.

Anyone emphasizing the need to "reach across the aisle" or "find common ground" right now is really saying "my privilege protects me from the danger you are facing", whether they know that or not. The inability to be self-aware by most people in power right now is so demoralizing to so many of us.

In 24 hours we've gotten executive orders attempting to ban gender affirming care, ban recognition of trans youth in schools, ban trans employees in the federal government. It's a full on societal purge of trans people.

They meant it when they said they wanted to eradicate us.
