A few years ago while on vacation, I met a doctor who at the end of his shift would stop at the hotel bar to unwind and he would always ask for an Almond daiquiri.

This, in and of itself, was weird because who ever heard of almond daiquiris, but apparently the liqueur for it exists! Anyways…

Mistakenly assumed that the poster for a Writhing Retreat had a typo on it and ended up spending the week in a bog with some worm people.

The language of non-consent around AI is really telling. "It's too late to be scared." "It's here whether we want it or not." "You'll have to learn to work with it." "You can't fight the inevitable."

All just variations of "you're not allowed to say no." Creepy technology made by creepy people.

If you see people having fun discussing horror movies, don't do this. It's not witty. It's not helpful, and it's certainly not original. At best, it's INCREDIBLY annoying, and at worst, it sounds like you're shaming someone for daring to not think about politics 24/7. Either way, you're an asshole.

This is the story of one pirate and the series of events that contributed to a pop culture phenomenon, but it's not the whole story. One of the most famous pirates in history, Edward Teach aka Blackbeard, was in fact from the West Country.

It's been a while since some news has properly surprised and disappointed me. I refuse to believe half of these names aren't getting other offers. There is no way they are so out of work they think this is worth it. I can't think of any generous way to look at it, they're just shitheels.

Also did you know that Spotify makes all your playlists public by default? I did not 🫠

Also if you want to remove your full name from your account you can do that by removing single sign-on. It lets you set your display name in those cases.
A screenshot from the r/truespotify sub Reddit titled 'New Spotify feature is doxxing'
Text reads:
"I checked Spotify today and noticed a new feature that lets you DM people. I tried it and saw a list of "suggested friends", most I recognized, but a few I couldn't place. Based on the music shared (it shows every single link you've ever sent that someone has opened, as long as they have a Spotify account), I realized some of these were people I know from Discord. I don't reveal my real identity on Discord, but occasionally share music in servers or while gaming. I've always kept Discord anonymous, and Spotify has never been a "social" app for me. But now it seems that anyone I've sent a Spotify link to, if they also have an account, can potentially find me, which means they could discover my full name and other account info. It's a little alarming. Just something to keep in mind if you share music in servers or subreddits and want to maintain your privacy"

You, the audience, are responsible for the answers. Before the voting, everyone in the audience is randomly assigned a prompt or question and have to write something funny for everyone to vote on. It gets silly fast, especially because callbacks are encouraged.

Fringe Show #25 - Jollybox

Similar to but legally distinct from any popular party game you might have played. A prompt or question is thrown up on the screen and the audience, connected via their phones, votes on their favourite answer. What makes it unique, you ask?

I know you're not supposed to judge a book by its cover, but snap judgements based on titles are fine, right? Because I'm already pretty sure I want to read a couple of those despite having zero context.
