Either gullible or complicit.

Both are damning.

The key to understanding a lot of US politics is that the unspoken premise on which it all rests is that personhood begins at a certain tax bracket.
Lots going on but from outside it seems that at least part of the calculus was that flight disruption for middle class and up travelers matters more than life disruption for untold numbers who’ll be deprived of health care.

Trump pardoned his associates who tried to help him overturn the 2020 election.

He pardoned 1500 people who tried to violently overthrow our government on January 6th.

Trump is proving that he’ll pardon anyone for any crimes they help him commit.

Complete lawlessness.

Instead of being shocked, I am going to say that the only way to stop Trump doing Trump is to oust him.

Otherwise Trump will Trump and that's what he does.

Just heard a "warning against AI" ad, spoken by a synthetic voice, on the radio, because of course 🙄

A swift kicking out of the useless and bringing in some politicians with a spine would be the correct course.
I see a lot of folks saying this will hurt Dems in the midterms and frankly I’m not sure that’s true - if anything, it shows the depth to which people are angry and engaged and wanting to fight these assholes

but it does substantially increase the chance they will be voting for different Democrats

Sharp words when ICE surrounds polling stations, I'm sure.
You realise they will cave on voting issues, too, right?

Once again, I am reminded of the joke about which doctor has the easiest patients and the DC doctor wins because his patients are politicians which means no heart, no guts, no spine and their heads and asses are interchangeable

Gauche, maybe, but there's a reason this joke exists

Maybe, just spitballing here, neither of the Parties in the US are functional anymore.

It's rather ridiculous that someone like Fetterman is still allowed to call himself a Democrat, by the way.

The coordinated nature of this—none are facing voters in 2026—means that either Schumer approved it or failed in his job as Senate Majority Leader to stop it.

Dems voting "no" get zero credit until they demand a change in leadership. Schumer out as Leader, Durbin out as Whip.
so currently defectors are:

Kaine (2030)
Shaheen (Retiring)
Hasan (2028)
Fetterman (2028)
Durbin (Retiring)
CCM (2028)
Rosen (2030)
King (2030)

The Republican budget bill is "a terrible option," Chuck Schumer, the Senate minority leader, writes in a guest essay. But "the risk of allowing the president to take even more power via a government shutdown is a much worse path."

Heritage is just cartoonishly evil. Just the worst scum on the face of the planet.
1/ The US Government has quietly removed a memorial to Black soldiers who died in World War II from the Netherlands American Cemetery in Margraten, South Limburg. The move follows a complaint from the right-wing Heritage Foundation to the American Battle Monuments Commission. ⬇️
