REPUBLICANS COULD STOP THIS AT ANY TIME

Look, Democrats have no power (voters saw to that), and there is no single bucket of water Dems can thrown on Trump to make him melt away. We are stuck with this, and as much as it sucks, all we have is harm reduction for now.

It's not satisfying, and it's not fast, but it's what we got.
I think I'm done with this place for a while. I just can't tolerate the Do Somethings who couldn't bother to do the one thing they could do to stop all of this.

"I'm having to ask my children to help me do things that should only be my responsibility, and that has broken my heart... They should concentrate on going to school, getting good grades, making friends. Not paying a bill."

This is the dynamic across most of America: Liberal cities generate revenue, which state governments then transfer to benefit conservative rural areas, whose residents despite city-dwellers and consistently vote to harm them. But politicians endlessly pander to rural voters and demonize cities.
Another critical piece of missing context in this story: tax dollars flow from the MSP metro to rural Minnesota. People in the city subsidize the lifestyles of people living in the country minnesotareformer.com/2023/12/04/t...

The only difference between this and statements from other Democrats is you like AOC and you hate them.
AOC: I want everybody to understand that the cuts to your health care are what’s paying for this. You get screwed over to pay a bunch of thugs in the street that are shooting mothers in the face.

You can feel whatever kind of way you want about it but I for both practical and analytical reasons you sort of need to recognize that when Walz and Frey tell people to calm down and go home or the MPD disperses a crowd it is in the context of a credible threat of a military occupation of the city
Sen. Jon Husted: "What the Insurrection Act threat means to be is Gov. Walz, Mayor Frey, take action or you'll see an escalation"

Thread. Good explainer on budget bill.
This “affordability” framework for a second reconciliation bill (i.e. a “Second Big Beautiful Bill”) follows the same structure as its predecessor:

1.)Making it harder for Americans to afford health care, food & groceries.

2.)Tax cuts for rich people. 🧵
🐘📈 Republicans in the House have started about a second party-line reconciliation package.

In other words: A "One Big Beautiful Bill 2.0."

The Republican Study Committee put out its framework for a bill.

Here is everything in it, and how much it costs or saves on th3e federal budget:
