Respectfully, Congresswoman, you voted with Republicans to strip due process from immigrants and to praise Trump's ICE. This year.

Now you're upset?

Votes have consequences. Minnesotans deserve better.
ICE agents followed a Burnsville family home from the store, failed to present a warrant and entered their home with guns drawn. They detained 4 legal citizens who presented documentation, leaving a 7 year-old without parents.

A seven-year-old. Let that sink in. Trump’s ICE is out of control.

It is an interesting thing that people tell me, as a pastor, “I’m sorry” when I tell them that I have a funeral to officiate.

Being present for people’s death and grief, both in and outside of liturgical spaces, is honestly a grace and gift I am given in my vocation.

There is no amount of hot beverages (coffee, cocoa, tea, cider, mulled wine) that is too much in these cold days of winter.

In contrast, dogmatics begins with revelation in God’s free self-disclosure in Christ rather than in an inerrant text or a natural-theology account of divine attributes. The Bible is a genuine creaturely witness that God uses, not a static deposit of propositions available to any neutral observer.

It’s an interesting challenge preaching this Sunday’s gospel text from Matthew 3 and trying to both speak to the season of Advent we are in and to my congregation’s 150th anniversary.

But I can’t imagine why the Dem establishment wouldn’t have jumped on the vision of passionate new voices who better rep the kinds of Americans they’ve been trying to understand for decades, except…welp, we also saw what happened when those brilliant Black & Brown women showed up & tried to save us

Today is the feast of St Andrew, one of the 12 disciples of Christ. According to his apocryphal legend, he was crucified on an X-shaped cross. As one of the disciples, Andrew was part of the catalogue of saints that missionaries brought to the Norse sphere from the 9th century onwards. (1/n)

It’s 100% about gender. And since Christian Nationalists by and large have very patriarchal views of religion, family, and society theology is a man’s world to them.
and of course the whole thing smacks of gender

the state can abide by gutting part of the prison system after all, so long as it helps the state abduct and imprison even more people
NEW: Federal prison workers are jumping ship & heading to ICE for better pay + bonuses. Already BOP lost >1400 people this year, reversing all of 2024’s staffing gains. It’s an unintended consequence of Trump’s push for mass deportations

As Federal Prisons Run Low on Food and Toilet Paper, Corrections Officers Leave in Droves for ICE
Many of the problems the agency is facing now are not new, but staff and prisoners fear an exodus of officers could make life behind bars even worse.

Without getting corporate money out of politics and enacting term limits for Congress and the Supreme Court I don’t anticipate the US political landscape getting much better.

I understand when people want a funeral to be hopeful and celebratory. They want to acknowledge the good in a person’s life. I believe a funeral should offer hope. It should express gratitude for the good in a person’s life. I also believe that it should offer space for grief and loss.
