The average SNAP benefit per month is $177 a person.

The average ACA benefit per month is up to $550 a person.

People want us to hold the line for a reason. This is not a matter of appealing to a base. It’s about people’s lives.

And working people want leaders whose word means something to them.

A real banner week for Chuck Schumer, given that only a few days ago he refused to back the Democratic nominee for mayor of his home city.

Schumer can be removed from his Dem leadership role this week - 23 Dems (and/or independents) just have to vote to depose him

And they should, given this is his fault.
This is a lovely sentiment but Schumer isn't up for re-election until 2028 and he knows this. At which point he will be 77/78. There's no mechanism to recall a sitting senator AFAIK.
Let’s be clear: Chuck Schumer is the one ending this shutdown, no matter how the votes read.

Chuck Schumer is claiming that he’s voting no, while letting other Senators (Fetterman, Kaine, King, etc) do HIS dirty work.

He must be removed from his leadership & primaried for the sake of this country

I wonder if the folks attacking @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social for singling out Israel have noticed that Hindu nationalists loathe him too. Why? Because his opposition to religious, ethnic + racial supremacy is NOT confined to Israel. He's a principled opponent of ethnonationalism, including in India

As if the ADL couldn’t get any worse
there are two schools of thought on protecting Jewish safety in America: we either fight for a pluralistic democracy where we are safe because minority rights are protected or we seek junior partner status in the MAGA white nationalist alliance

the ADL has chosen a side

ADL removes ‘Protect Civil Rights’ from website as it narrows its mission amid right-wing attacks
The removal took place after FBI Director Kash Patel said he would cut ties with the ADL, though it is unclear if that has happened.

I was at the the No Kings march in Park Slope, Brooklyn. Many elderly or disabled folks who couldn’t make it to Manhattan, but also young families and people of all ages. I stood in the same spot for more than an hour and the stream of protesters was constant. Amazing turnout.

SO many people! Doing SO many things!

In today's thread alone we have 📢
-a puppet theater educating audiences re: their rights re: ICE!
-lawsuits & exec orders!
- #NoKings protest!
-support for soldiers refusing orders!
-& all the ppl making all that happen 🫶

Having a lot of convos in which someone complains that “no one is doing anything.” May I humbly suggest:
1) Find some of the MANY people who are doing things.
2) Ask what they need.
3) Do that.

AIPAC messes in Dem primaries and also bankrolled 109 GOP election-deniers. No self-respecting Dem candidate should meet with them let alone take their money. If you want a Dem Party that fights back, get AIPAC out of our primaries - and support candidates brave enough to take them on.
It’s official: AIPAC is trying to buy my election to keep me out of Congress.

Apparently, I’m a “dangerous detractor”... by believing Palestinians (like myself and my family) deserve basic human rights.

But we’re not going to let AIPAC win.

Aftyn was Tennessee's first Indivisible organizer and she is an absolute powerhouse, the exact kind of dedicated, brilliant fighter we need in Congress. TN-07, you've got the chance to put a CHAMPION for working people in Congress - get out there and get out the vote!!!
TENNESSEANS ARE BROKEEEEE 😭😭😭

Tennessee’s economy is “booming” — but we're broke. Housing up 70%, child care up 20%, wages flat. Why? Corporate greed + rigged rules. In Congress, I’ll fight to repeal Citizens United, close loopholes, & put working families first.

Overcrowded cells. Unsanitary conditions. Limited access to food and water.

These are the conditions that ICE has created at 26 Federal Plaza, which eleven elected officials sought to expose. Instead, they were arrested.

They must be released right now — and inspectors let in.
Just now, 11 state and city lawmakers were arrested by DHS police on the 10th floor of 26 Federal Plaza after a hour of demanding access to the ICE lock up on the same floor. @thecity.nyc
