One of my favorite game series! Excited for this one!!!
Detective Grimoire and Sally will return in 'The Mermaid Mask' in 2026. Thanks for your patience! I can't wait to share it with everyone. (The first delay was largely due to Crow Country, and this second delay is a normal 'every project takes longer than you think' situation)

Since Polygon is leaving it out of the headline: Epic Games partnered with The Game Awards to put money into the pocket of a bigot who uses her wealth to further the genocide of trans people through lawsuits and legislation. Every 'free' game gives money directly to JKR, and they are complicit.

It’s a truth universally denied that in order to win the general, you must first win the primary
Let me tell you something daddy… if James Talarico can’t win a Texas primary he’s not beating John Cornyn

Only played a handful of games this year: South of Midnight, Blue Prince, Roottrees. But I have a free weekend!

What's a 2025 game I shouldn’t end the year without playing?

Prio will go to shorter games, but if there’s a long one you really think I should see, feel free to give the rec!

Black protag = usually won't be considered for a real award, but they want to get points so game is relegated to "impact" awards.

Amazing seeing what was jammed into that category.
South of Midnight is only in "Games for Impact" whatever that means at this point. Truly one of the best OSTs this year, and if you don't plan on playing, I recommend you check it out anyway.

“It's good that it's there, but it's also, in a way, kind of insulting. Because giving a special award for a game for actually meaning something or having some human content... we should be aspiring for that in every category."

I hate this idea that stepping outside of white narratives is medicinal rather than entertaining. And it's patronising to be sidelined from the creative awards, as though all our craft, design and ingenuity is secondary to our work "being good for you" or meaningful solely in identitarian terms.

See also: BAFTA's "Game Beyond Entertainment", which ends up as a catch-all for games with PoC in them + social impact games. While it's an honour to be nominated for a BAFTA I was utterly baffled that *Thirsty Suitors* a game about fighting your hot toxic exes and wuxia cooking was in this category
