I want to build a world where we don't need mental health therapists or psychiatry.

As a therapist, I work to make my profession obsolete. We need to build mutual aid and community care for mental health.

Mental health care is often used to enforce the status quo, the meatgrinder of capitalism.

that some people are not worth fighting for—whether because they

unhoused, disabled, drug users...

Still against masking?
Long Covid > more blood Tau > increase chance of Alzheimer's. Nice study followed people before/after infection, plus 2 years later, and a control group that managed to avoid getting infected (how?). Not surprising to those of us who've been following the story - terrifying all the same #Covid 🧪⚕️
The mainstream media are slowly picking up. Very slowly and very cagily. But it's not a bloody secret, whatever the level of denial or indifference in the population. www.independent.co.uk/news/health/...

Colonialism's effects are a living part of our present moment while neocolonial imperialism is beginning to ramp up.
@karenattiah.bsky.social goes deep, thorough, and very personal in this moving essay on an intersection of her past, her current journey, and the legacy of colonialism that is still having impact on people today.

It appears that SNAP will now have higher costs but benefits to recipients will fall.

That's why increasing admin requirements often backfires.

In the future, everyone will know the 4.3% unemployment rate is one constant among others, like the speed of light in a vacuum.
Setting: The Halls of Mandos, 250th Age of Arda

Maedhros: Dad, I kept hearing about negative revisions to the jobs data. Whatever happened to January 2026 unemployment rate?

Fëanor: I have the worst sons. I bet Finarfin's kids know it's been about 4.3% for millions of years

Hmm... after 88 years. Very interesting.
holy shit
Gallup announces, after 88 years, it will no longer track public approval of presidents. Trump's second-term approval rating fell to 36% in December, among the lowest ever recorded by the company. The president repeatedly has threatened to sue media and polling firms that portray him negatively.

Tech executives have finally amassed their ultimate, long dreamed-of power: to summarily fire anyone who speaks ill of their desire to have sex with robots
OpenAI fired one of its top safety execs, on the grounds of sexual discrimination, after she voiced opposition to the controversial rollout of AI erotica in its ChatGPT product.

OpenAI told her the term was related to her sexual discrimination against a male colleague.

I'm willing to be there is a lot of overlap in that Venn diagram.
Bloomington police announce arrests in sex trafficking bust: "Rashad Johnson out of Maple Grove. This is the most disturbing arrest that we've had here. He is a backgrounder for ICE, Homeland Security, and federal agencies."

[Angry farmer voice] the Israeli kids got back into the "Philosophy of Drugs" garden again! Those darn kids and their drugs!

It is both sad and pathetic there are researchers working to optimize LLMs for trip-sitting people doing drugs alone while not far away people are being physically atomized.

Goddamn. Texas, where no-sir-I'm-just-a-drunk-idiot-with-no-idea-how-to-handle-a-firearm is an effective defense to avoid getting charged with murdering your own daughter because she didn't like Trump.
These are called honor killings 👍
A MAGA freak in Texas murdered his own daughter in cold blood after they had an argument about Trump.

A grand jury in the Dallas area then *declined to indict him*, and he has not yet faced charges.

Seems like many Texans believe a man has the right to kill his own child for disobedience.

In the #Fallout series, the ghoul makes a critical remark about the Roman-idealizing Legion not using "the soft c," ostensibly in reference to their use of "Kaisar" instead of Caesar.
However, I believe scholars agree that Caesar was pronounced with a hard c and the "ae" was pronounced like "ai."

I gotta give respect to #Fallout for putting Dallas Goldtooth in the Veterans of Foreign Wars scene, which represents the over-representation of Indigenous peoples in the US Armed Forces. Per capita, Indigenous people join the armed forces at a vastly higher rate than any other demographic.

A reminder that the US killed 80 people in Venezuela, and it would be nice if the US media cared enough to think that the life of a grandmother in Caracas whose building is destroyed by a US bomb matters as much as the life of a person in the US.
