The owner was using motion-tracking software to turn the fish's movements into Nintendo Switch inputs, letting them "play" video games. 8 In 2020, the fish beat Pokemon Sapphire after 3,195 hours, a feat that takes about 30 hours for a typical human. 9/ 181 On January 14, 2023, Pokémon Violet crashed at 1,144 hours, giving the fish free access to the main menu. They entered inputs that opened Nintendo eShop, added 500 yen ($3.85 USD) to their owner's account, and exposed his credit card details on the livestream. 10) 11) Mutekimaru later requested a refund of the 500 yen from Nintendo. l12) "Fish eagerly read the terms and conditions. Many of us humans don't read the terms of service, but fish are smarter than we are" - caption from Mutekimaru in a video about the incident 12) The fish also downloaded an N64 emulator, set up PayPal, used reward points to buy an avatar, and changed Mutekimaru's Nintendo account name to "ROWAWAWA*". 13, After about seven hours, their movements shut down the Switch. 14)

I haven’t seen anyone talk about how Jane Doe - an Epstein survivor - just sued the Bank of New York Mellon for funding Epstein and failing to file a Suspicious Activity Report. A Mellon heir is the one who gave $130M to pay the troops. Seems bribey to me.

International shipments and museum loans: some helpful, aggravating notes from Chris on the ECN listserv that I'm leaving here for future reference.
The Privacy Act and Reducation [sic] act do not supercede the laws in 50 CFR (14,etc). Guidelines written on the eDec instructions may have been followed 30 or even 5 years ago, but today boxes without a 3-177 document attached on the outside are being siezed and destroyed by CBP and USFWS, especially coming through the NY office. CAS has lost one package from China already. When they sieze a package they do not notify you, rather they wait 180 days until the grace period has expired for us to submit a 3-177, and then notify you of your violation and seizure. Our petitionthrough the NY district court was met with silence. "Further notes about the CFR - it's written very confusingly because in one section we are explicitly exempt. However, in another, all wildlife transactions must be declared at time of crossing event. And since 50 CFR 14 is before 50 CFR 17, the current interpretation is less forgiving: all wildlife must be declared upon entry or exit. Only then do we have 190 days to amend the 3-177 with updated determinations. The current interpretation of the NY office is such that declaration = 3-177. The box we had confiscated was declared as insects for museum work, but did not have an "official" declaration. All of the CFR's are written in such a way as to be open for interpretation by any agent, which until lately has been permissive and leaned towards the exemption"
