It’s cringe-comedy. Reminds me of that Stephen Merchant show from awhile back, “Hello, Ladies.”

The main character is so painfully unaware, and all the comic beats come from normal human beings trying and failing to communicate with them.

“I do not wish to be understood, which no one seems to understand.”

This is what’s missing from the book. It is a 300-page meandering navel-gaze. A Joan Didion impression from someone with nothing to say, vaguely offended that readers would *expect* her to have something to say.

Paramount (With Jared Kushner And Saudi Help) Launches $108 Billion Hostile Takeover Bid For Warner Brothers
Last week Netflix announced a $82.7 billion acquisition of Warner Brothers, elbowing out rival acquisition bids (for now) by Comcast/NBC and Paramount/CBS. But the deal still needs regulatory approval from Trump, who has already stated several times that he'd prefer it if his bestie new owner of CBS, right wing billionaire Larry Ellison, comes away victorious. Even before the deal was finalized, Paramount and/or the Trump administration had begun seeding complaints in Republican-friendly media that the…

It is true that New York had a religious exemption for student vaccines before 2019. But the reason lawmakers abolished that exemption was because parents began abusing it at an unprecedented scale and allegedly spurred a horrific measles epidemic. www.supremecourt.gov/DocketPDF/25...

why is *anybody* buying Warner Bros
why does Warner Bros need to be bought
how big do the entertainment conglomerates need to get before they are one single conglomerate
Netflix has made the highest bid to buy Warner Bros so far.

The three Democratic appointees, in an opinion by Justice Kagan, dissent.

I'll post the ruling shortly.

Horrifying story: Chicago promoted two police officers even after investigators found they engaged in sexual misconduct. That’s because the Chicago Police Department’s promotions system allows officers’ disciplinary records to be ignored.
