“Most people get about five minutes of happiness a day … if they’re lucky” lives rent free in my head

I’m consistently confused how this throwaway snl skit is more impactful than dozens of well regarded CBT / IFS books!!!
stupid cat, get out of there, you are not our fifteen day old daughter!
When I first saw this I genuinely thought it was an early Don Hertzfeldt sketch
trying to figure out why that incredibly casual sentence make me laughcry
good rec! I will do what I always do and forward it along to everyone I know in London even though I don’t live there. Saw the piece in nyc, Andrew is a friend of a friend. Felt like it would have been easy to fall into cliche but his presence really carried it.
I fear I missed some Discourse
How do we get this in Europe? Lab111 would
be the obvious Amsterdam spot

The first time Trump made the national news was 1973 when Richard Nixon's, (Richard Nixon's), justice department said he and his dad violated fair housing by having managers write C for colored on rental apps, so they would know not to rent to blacks or Latinos.
The Trump administration is limiting enforcement of fair housing laws, dismissing them as ideologically driven and DEI in disguise, according to interviews and internal documents reviewed by The New York Times.
Trump Appointees Roll Back Enforcement of Fair Housing Laws
Interviews and internal documents show that signature civil rights protections in housing are being dismissed as ideologically driven and D.E.I. in disguise.

Still cannot get over how utterly unnecessary any of this was. Selecting death, disorder, and decline. For nothing.
This skeet is going to live rent free in my head for a very long time

A thing about being on antidepressants in the current political climate is that it's very hard to tell how depressed is an appropriate amount of depressed to feel.

My irrational NYC safety fears:
- contracting a terrible disease from mystery liquid in a subway station dripping on my head
- contracting a terrible disease from pigeon droppings landing on my head
- contracting a terrible disease from stepping in a stagnant puddle
Been thinking a bit about the right wing view of NYC as dangerous and realized I have my own totally irrational safety fears. 1) people doing pull ups on scaffolding. Stop doing that! I walk under scaffolding faster because i don’t trust it
What the fuck are we doing here?
"Among those detained were South Korean employees on business travel....

"The raid could raise concerns for South Korean companies that are sending personnel to the US and hiring locally."

It comes weeks after Hyundai pledged $26 billion in US investments.

Bizarrely it was this introductory paragraph that got me - holy shit, a person who knows and cares about the thing they do and sees it connected to a rich historical tradition without being a retvrn ideologue.
Picked up this book after seeing this tweet. It’s going to turn me into the joker. I feel like I’m having a break with reality. This feels like an Iannucci farce.
The longer I look at this the more joy it’s bringing me.
Omg of all the hoods in queens, my home town of “Rego Pane” made it!!!!!
Why am I sobbing so hard watching this video (fwiw I also lose it every time i watch that Tim Walz video at the farmers market asking consent to touch the service dog)

“I’ll do it for you” at the end helping that person with the phone, yes this man is truly the Millennials’ Champion
Shooting our videos is a little bit different now.
This is so backwards that when I initially read the story I thought it was a protest not a celebration.
And yet, she was pained, not by what had happened, but the new era that she found herself in.
Would sure be nice if something that inspired hope happened today
