My secret is I make a bullet list of things I want to happen / want to follow up on. I used to find improve impossible, but then I was in a game with 9 players, & realized no one would make space for me but me. So I started writing dramatic things my char would try to find opportunities to do/say.

Oh yeah, 2 is interesting because it's the start of them taking theater cues for cutscenes (and like, having actual cutscenes at all) and defining how Final Fantasy tells stories. The combat system even gets expanded upon eventually in the much more experimental SAGA games, tho never again in a FF.
