Found my Grandfather’s Army-Issued field watch from WWII. He wore it across Europe to Germany, then in the Philippines.

Gonna see if I can get it running again.

If you know a good watch shop in the DC/NOVA area send me a note.

Gen X-ers, we ride at dawn.

Bring your quarters (to exchange for whatever).
Those still exist here! (Halifax Canada) I just checked and there is a dial tone.

another interesting thing that jumped out at me from this story was the court security team intervening to stop ice
The part where they threatened to break a judge’s car windows should be a bigger story … they feel comfortable treating judges this way, which means they are being told that they can do literally anything to nearly everyone
#BREAKING: A student intern at Rhode Island Superior Court was briefly taken into custody by ICE this afternoon before a judge intervened, 12 News has learned. Story by @jusolyn.bsky.social and @timwhiteri.bsky.social: ⤵️

There are days when it's hard for me to remember that, at base, we all want the same things.

Today I'm trying to remember that those things don't include Nazis, pedophiles, and death sentences for disobeying illegal orders.

Right? None of us wants those things, right?

As @profhicks.bsky.social has repeatedly demonstrated with his work, services are a major factor in keeping and bringing people to towns/cities, not low taxes. Always exceptions, including bad use of funds, but it certainly holds true in this state. Latest: www.thestarpress.com/story/opinio...
Hicks: An anecdote on taxation
There’s an easy rule of thumb. If you are losing people, or your home values are declining, it is pretty likely that you have too few amenities for your current taxes.
