yume nikki and its fan derivatives basically take this to the extreme without ever actually having direct conflict. the friction is purely generated through the psychological tension the player feels when exploring unknown environments. that's why yume nikki is the only true cozy game ever made

i think the (false) paradox of "the cozy game" is that it's far more memorable when there are elements of weirdness / unknowns / uncertainty in the world to it, like how early animal crossing neighbours were kinda mean sometimes and sims 1 is sorta creepy sometimes. the friction of consciousness

Pretty sure I don't buy the hades 2 ending because they kinda just did the same thing again but in wildly Worse circumstances (chronos started an entire war and like. Ate them) but I also have to consider if this is because I have a better relationship with my dad than his dad #hades2spoilers
