I like the cartoon horses for gambling addicts and fighting games
The other day I saw some program (maybe one of the Bazzite utility scripts?) that had a default where it would upload some logs for you to one of those public Pastebin-like services on error, and buddy, I can think of few things I would like *less* than automatic public upload of crash logs

I was going to point at the recent TMNT belt scroller as an example of an arcade-style game with good bones wrecked by the need to extend it to "full console game length," but being two or three times too long is actually pretty normal for belt scrollers

liking game genres that spawned from the arcades condemns you to forever suffer cuz no one outside of the bubble gets it and every developer wants to the appeal to the guy who doesn't get it

So they say they gave the developer feedback, it was (allegedly) implemented, and they said they would not reconsider it? Why even bother giving them feedback then?

Alright you clowns you want fighting game discourse?

Street Fighter 7 needs to have no movement options besides walking forwards & backwards and a single jump type.

- YEARS OF EX MOVES yet NO REAL-WORLD USE FOUND for attaching a resource cost to a FIREBALL
- Wanted to spend meter on special moves anyway for a laugh? We had a game for that: It was called "ART OF FIGHTING"

gaming in 2025 is having a tutorial pop up to inform you that the very big, conspicuous lever you just found will in fact toggle the direction of the minecart tracks to solve a puzzle

Inferring which Umamusume's namesake passed away based on an uptick in fanart featuring them quietly napping in the sun, waving to the viewer, running into the distance, etc.

Valve is an extremely frustrating company, and Steam's an extremely frustrating service, because despite all the good they do, they love hiding behind their "oh we're just a bunch of fun-loving folks who follow our whims~" image whenever someone asks them to act like fucking professionals

I honestly don't think that Valve will back down even in the face of negative press across the industry, because that will require them to actually address issues. That will require meetings, and discussions, and maybe publishing their content policies where anyone can see them.

Valve hate effort.

the thing you have to know about working with valve is that, in practice, "flat leadership" means "whether your game gets to go on the store OR is permanently and irrevocably dragged behind the shed and shot is entirely up to the individual moral values of the SINGLE person reviewing it"
love living under a hays code/comics code authority except it's in some ways worse, because it's not actually codified anywhere and it's enforced opaquely on purpose to avoid accountability at every stage

Valve absolutely adore their opaque-at-best content approval scheme, where explicit pornography is OK as long as it doesn't annoy the individual doing your review, and non-pornographic games accepted for release by Nintendo or Sony are blocked unless you get enough media attention

While I'm thinking about problems to create for myself to kill time, I should install Linux on the GAMER LAPTOP I bought a few years ago that got completely replaced by the Steam Deck once that existed. It has an Nvidia GPU! The only Nvidia I've had in decades. Ever?
