I think what's bothering me about all these statements I'm seeing from politicians that are variations of "Israeli hostages and Palestinians are returning to their homes, yay" is that Israelis are returning to their homes and Palestinians are returning to uninhabitable post apocalyptic rubble.

If you check statistics, you will find out that men are the main victims of violent crime. Yet we keep hearing how many women are afraid for their safety. All men know you need to take some precautions, and do it. And yet, way too many people pretend men can walk around safely, while women need to be very cautious. Tell that to all the men who get assaulted, and/or killed on the streets.
Such morons are doing a disservice to women and men.
Women feel they are in more danger than they really are, which is stressful. And men are being treated as offenders simply based on their sex. It also prevent society to engage with the real issue of male on male violence as men are allegedly already safe.
It is so hard to check basic statistics?

Your question was whether there's a way to prepare for your mother's death, not whether there's a way to worry less about it, and I'll take a stab at answering that question using my experience with my father's as an example. No, you can't prepare for it. It will be like nothing you've felt yet. Maybe you think that if you worry about it really well—if you devote yourself to this anxiety, if you memorize your fear like a prayer—you can defeat it before it defeats you, like Roman's "pre-grieving" on Succession. But it didn't work for him because it doesn't work. Authoritative as it can feel, anxiety is incapable of describing anything it hasn't actually seen, like the death of a parent. All it can do is push us around various ugly landmarks in our minds: awful experiences we've already had, pains we've already processed. Anxiety is the blustering cokehead cousin of self-soothing. It brags about everything it knows to conceal the fact that it doesn't know anything. You can't feel what you haven't felt until, well...until you feel it.

Conservative Justices: parents have total rights to know their children's gender identity and any school which interferes with their desire to police and control such identity violates the Constitution. Also, it's completely cool if States make it illegal for a parent to give gender-affirming care.

No one in a senior role in these parties talks about Israel like they do, say, Saudi Arabia. The ideological justification for the alliance and for unconditional support even as apartheid, genocidal violence and expansionism runs rampant is rooted in talk of "shared values" and "democracy".

Usually I see the answers divided into two camps: foolishness/naïveté and ideological kinship. There's truth to both but it's very obviously the latter more than the former given the moral valence that is put onto the alliance with Israel by German American, Canadian, British liberals parties.
