Nano Banana / Gemini really is amazing -- I gave it a cameraphone image from 2009 and had it upscale, change perspective, and remove the trash can.
You just straight-up couldn't do this in Photoshop, no matter how good you are.
Cameraphone image, taken in (apparently) 2009 at a weird angle, somewhere around Jiaodaokou in Beijing: a fading slogan on a hutong wall reads 灭资兴无, "eliminate the capitalists and boost the proletariat." Featuring muddy colors, sensor noise, and a trash can next to the lamp-post in front of the 灭. A much clearer, sharper image of the same slogan as viewed from the front, without the trashcan. Even things like the parallax on the slightly open window seem to be rendered correctly here -- it might have been possible to do some of this in Photoshop, but not most of it, and not at this quality.

Democrats, many of whom bet in the last election that voters want to see stricter immigration enforcement, are struggling with how to respond to this growing crisis. Sen. Chris Murphy, D-Conn., wrote on X at the end of Trump's first week in office that Biden's rate of removal was twice as high as his successor's. I can see where the urge to show Trump is failing on his promises comes from. But I'm lost as to how it would help Democrats politically to claim that their party purges migrants more successfully.

the biggest horseshit of this entire campaign was the idea that ICE knew where all the Bad Guy Immigrants were and just weren't allowed to go after them because of woke. This was very clearly an underlying believe for a ton of Americans, and it was never challenged or even really mentioned.

there is no comprehensive list of dangerous criminal undocumented migrants. nor are there many of them in the country at all. “mass deportations” are by definition gonna be almost exclusively peaceful immigrants and sweep up LPRs, people on visas, these are the easy people to locate!

I've been ranting about this for ~8 years. As autonomous vehicles mature, street space will establish a market value to the companies running these fleets, with the ability to do internal traffic analysis amongst their own cars.

It'd be like out of pocket medical care vs vs a risk pool.
