ICE killing #AlexPretti should remind you of police killing #PhilandoCastille. Both men had concealed weapon permits, did not draw their guns, & were killed in Minn. These homicides are the price of unaccountable policing. These deaths are variations on the same fatal theme.

A fellow 37-year old Federal employee who dedicated his life to serving the American public. And ICE executed him for it.
Alex from our time working together, while he was in nursing school. Later, he moved to ICU, working as a nurse to support critically ill Veterans. He had such a great attitude. We’d chat between patients about trying to get in a mountain bike ride together. Will never happen now

ICE just executed another American for peacefully exercising his rights. I feel sick. For the people who’ve lost their lives for even passively challenging this administration. For the families split up by deportations. For the millions more forced to live in fear. This must end now!

I came to Minneapolis to report on what's going on, and one of the main questions I showed up with is "just what is the scale of the resistance?" After all, we're all used to the news calling Portland a "war zone" or whatever when it's just some protests in one part of town.

My work is pushing Copilot, the jankiest of the AI options, so freaking aggressively. The irony is that AI can be a powerful tool for boosting productivity, just not in the ways upper management thinks. It’s not helping me draft emails. But it is helping me troubleshoot and improve my code.
The disconnect between management and employee on AI usage is big. At the same time, CEOs are reporting they aren't seeing any revenue growth from AI.

This misses the key distinction which is that the Online Safety Act (& KOSA in the U.S.) is about punishing, censoring and surveilling *users*. None of these “child safety” laws are about punishing actual big tech companies. They’re ONLY about censoring speech, they reward big tech financially

I finally came out as a trans woman to my parents and sisters last week! The only part of my life where I have to remain in the closet is at work. Unfortunately it’ll take a regime change for that to be safe. I can’t wait until it’s safe to be openly myself in all parts of my life!
