It goes into that weird thing that genuine appreciation is somehow considered less intellectual than criticism but everybody is getting trained to be such a cynical unfeeling asshole nowadays that I find the smartest people often are the “hell yeah cool song/drawing/story/video” people

I’ve sometimes fallen into the trap of thinking that complementing a creative person for their work is less sophisticated or desired than discussion or debate about it but very often the best thing you can say to them is hell yeah and that doesn’t make you dumb it just makes you nice

The SecDef should by rights be on death row at Leavenworth. At minimum he should be spending the rest of his life making big rocks into small rocks. Unfortunately I think the best we can hope for is he’s back cashing Fox News paychecks in late January.

This is called Universal Design, where something is designed technically to help people with disabilities but ends up helping a whole bunch of other people too.
Curb cuts is perhaps the most famous example of this - it's for people in wheelchairs, but everyone uses them.

This is great. I think the whole idea of accommodation should rightly be an invitation to reject an ableist, eugenicist approach to the world and instead ask "What if we want to give *everyone* the chance to do their best?"

The essay reads like the letter Mac wrote to Chase Utley in its always sunny. She didn’t even cite the Bible. There are *zero* connections between demons and gender in scripture. If your essay boils down to just saying “nu uh” then insulting a group of people, you deserve to fail. Shut the fuck up
