i get the distain for "we spoke to 14 inbred hogs at a diner" stories but i think we should let them talk so we can bully them afterwards. i don't know how you get to a less bad nation without it. i don't want to fix their hearts, i want them to shut the hell up and be afraid to spew this bullshit

They’re also really great bc they reproduce the whole thing, including all the stuff that was more or less lost to history before. You can fully immerse yourself in th picture world of a prewar LES urchin

They are SO great. Just to have em in your hands. Whenever I stop by the LCS I have to buy one. They could have so easily been lazy and removed the period ads, but they didn’t.!!
a genuinely nice thing: DC's terrific "facsimile" newsprint reprints. they *are* occasionally bowdlerized but I absolutely love having a wrinkled New Gods no. 1 on grayish newspaper to thumb through. the colors pop and the story beats are so much clearer

This is all stupid bullshit but I remain pretty disgusted at how things like marriage and having children are treated like Xbox achievements instead of actually loving and caring for someone else. Yeah I’m going to work 70 hours a week but definitely need a spouse, her name is Beth or something idk

I think my favorite recording atm is Pablo Casals. Gotta get that tape hiss babey
I will forever adore Yo Yo Ma's many recordings of Bach's cello suites but relative up-and-comer Anastasia Kobekina brings an expressiveness to her rendition that I find surprising and moving

“The circulation of the human flux” 🤌
"Already the circulation of the human flux is less assured (the archaic solution of escalators in plastic sleeves, one ought to be aspirated, propelled, or something, but with a mobility that would be up to this baroque theatricality of fluids that is the source of the..."

Fun fact is that every pre JFK dollar coin contains about $100 of silver now
I don't know who needs to hear this, but gold is up 7% from yesterday's close.

I cannot understate how much of a life vest PBS was to me as a kid and how this is one of many things I’ll never forgive this piss-swilling regime for.

The defining feature of the modern right is its vicious cruelty and the defining feature of the center-left is its complete vacuousness.

This isn’t cruel or mean spirited or…anything. It’s just what you get from people who are completely out of ideas. Wind whistling between their ears.

Here’s a podcast that does a good job of laying out what’s at stake, and why all of us need to get off the sidelines to demand change.

If the right-wing is going to go with, "We can't compare ICE to the Gestapo, because ICE only hunts non-citizens," then we need to call this what it is: a form of Holocaust revisionism.

The only prayer OpenAI and maybe the AI industry as a whole have is rapid and consistent customer growth. They need as many Americans to use this technology as possible. It needs to transcend political and cultural boundaries. In other words — keep at it, chief!
Here's hoping that Sam Altman continues praising Donald Trump, that his remarks are widely disseminated, and that all those using or considering using ChatGPT hear them.
"President Trump is a very strong leader, and I hope he will rise to this moment and unite the country." Such a courageous statement from Sam Altman to OpenAI employees.
