(HACK-uh) Posts are my thoughts, which means at least half of them are about The Boss. Ph.D. Candidate at UW-Madison studying topological photonics I’m essentially a physicist with the fun and charisma of a chemist. And an ego obviously of a physicist.

I don’t know who this Count Owen Tu guy is

It’s crazy how much more enjoyable baseball is with the pitch clock.

It’s funny when tiny houses are touted as a solution to homelessness. What if you took those tiny houses, connected them and stacked them so that you could fit more in the same plot? Then everyone could have their own place! The French called those “appartements” from the Italian “appartamenti”

(This comes from my experience as someone who firmly believes several breeds of dogs should be made extinct)

This is true and people will (rightly) be upset that it is, but it’s reality. A good thing about focusing on this is that animals get the benefit of any doubt. You’ll never dig up enough dirt to smear a dog and claim it deserved to be shot. Even a video of an active mauling gets the *person* blamed

I have long believed that we should be WAY more vocal about how police and ICE constantly murder dogs, and I think this is great messaging actually.

The reality is that you can mobilize a whole lot of usually tuned-out Americans around a “someone is being mean to hecking doggos” cause.

I know language evolves and whatnot, but I really just don’t like the phrase “begs the question” being used to mean “raises the question”
brandonhacha.bsky.social
This is beside the point, but it does not “beg the question”; Sean Duffy actually means “raises the question”.

Sean Duffy: "The No Kings protest, Maria, really frustrating. This is part of antifa, paid protesters. It begs the question who's funding it."

Idk what Dan Quinn is doing right now

He is “bringing peace to the Middle East” in the same way that Reagan “freed the American hostages in Iran”.

Shedeur can’t actually be worse than Dillon Gabriel, right?

Ok, you’ve got me there. that’s way more humiliating

There’s a lot of competition for “worst team in the league” but the Jets might take the crown. At every level, the team is just bad.

I think electric buses should play low-volume engine sounds inside because it’s unnerving to hear every little noise that people make

Today’s Springsteen song of the moment is “Chimes of Freedom (Live in Stockholm)”

This cover of the Bob Dylan track was Bruce’s announcement of his joining in the Human Rights Now! concert tour by Amnesty International.

Saying “we should sacrifice [group] so we win elections” is not a trolley problem. You created a trolley problem from it, hence why I’m being a purist in your mentions instead of his.
brandonhacha.bsky.social
None of your thread disputes your original statement that the “solution” to the trolley problem is to simply not have a trolley problem.
brandonhacha.bsky.social
Saying “the trolley problem shouldn’t exist, so I’m not going to engage with it” is just extra rationalizing around not pulling the lever!
brandonhacha.bsky.social
I hate these kinds of comments because that’s not what the trolley problem is about and I’m a trolley problem purist.

The trolley problem is, at some levels, about whether actively choosing to minimize harm (but still cause it) is better than passively allowing more harm to happen
