Let’s be clear: these protections help keep our air breathable, our water drinkable, and our communities healthy. However, Trump decided to prioritize the interests of fossil fuel companies over the health and safety of Americans.

Climate change isn't a scam; he is.

I wrote this song on Saturday, recorded it yesterday and released it to you today in response to the state terror being visited on the city of Minneapolis. It’s dedicated to the people of Minneapolis, our innocent immigrant neighbors and in memory of Alex Pretti and Renee Good.

In solidarity with all those standing up for our communities against the brutality of immigrant detention and ICE occupation, we're offering free ebooks of three crucial books about migrant justice and border abolition.

Another reason to support independent bookstores, either in person or through Bookshop.org and similar marketplaces.
Fun fact: Your local bookstore is doing more to protect you and your neighbors than Amazon is.

"The whole time our posse of masked goons were kidnapping a 5yo child and sending him to prison in a different state, their primary concern was the safety and welfare of that child."
DHS just sent another statement about ICE’s abduction of a 5-year-old in Minnesota.

They didn’t address my question about whether the child was moved to Texas. They also didn’t provide any evidence for their claims.

They are, however, claiming the child’s “alleged mother” actually abandoned him.

Honestly boycotting the World Cup would be the most effective and probably the least disruptive of all of the options available to Europe. I’m not sure how you can send teams and fans to contribute to a spectacle designed entirely to celebrate a guy trying to invade your territory.

Counterpoint: Does anyone give a shit at this point?

I'm sick of hearing about this peace prize. Trump ruined it. Let's move on.
Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado gifted her Nobel Peace Prize to President Trump in a meeting at the White House.

Here’s what to know about whether a Nobel Prize can be regifted.
Machado gave her Nobel Peace Prize to Trump. Can it be regifted?
President Trump described the move as a “wonderful gesture of mutual respect.” The Nobel Committee said the medal can change hands, but “the title of a Nobel Peace Prize laureate cannot.”

ICE agents enjoyed a meal at a Mexican restaurant, then arrested the very people who served them.

Reporters, please go back to Cotton and Perdue. Either "Why do they send us people from shithole countries?" is a vile, racist remark that Trump "never said" in 2018, or it's NOT a racist remark because, uh, the Cheeto God-King said it (and still says it), and they totally condone it. Which is it?
I’ll never forget hearing Donald Trump’s racist “shithole countries” comment in a 2018 Oval Office meeting about immigration.

Tom Cotton and David Perdue claimed Trump didn’t say it and accused me of lying.

The truth comes out.
TRUMP: “I said why is it we only take people from shithole countries? Why can't we have some people from Norway, Sweden, Denmark… But we always take people from Somalia— places that are filthy, dirty, disgusting.”

Such a mystery what he means when he says this stuff, isn’t it?

As a copyeditor, I find the closing of any press sad news. When it's the university press of your alma mater? Ooph. This is a must-read if you're a fan at all of literature and the humanities.
Everything about this article is spot on. University Presses are not a "bespoke ornament" but an integral part of the academic ecosystem. The claim that UPs "don't serve undergraduates" creates a (frankly head-scratching) false barrier between research & teaching--one informs the other & vice versa.
Why Close Bucknell University Press? (opinion)
Erosions of shared governance, narrow definitions of “student-centeredness” and a broader abandonment of a liberal arts ethos all lie behind the closure announcement.
