If you try to use #ChatGPT, EVEN the "SearchGPT" function, with #Boolean keywords, you will utterly fail. It is a whole different type of searching the web (and again, you ONLY do that with " #SearchGPT," NOT regular ChatGPT). #onlineliteracy #infolit

What an absolute treasure Diane Keaton was. Her wit never tired, nor did her style.

"Amusing Ourselves to Death" by Postman considers the history of how the Western world viewed the purpose and nature of "communication" and also how the use television, in his view, also changed our perspective on "learning"

Reading request! If you could recommend one text that explored the history of an idea/concept in a riveting and surprising way what would it be? Please re-skeet if you can. I know this is a niche ask.

This is horrifying! I can't imagine an entire state 1. Having this idea, and 2. Actually going through with it

This should be required reading in every historical methods and social studies classroom. Something very important is being lost. 🗃️🗺️

Marian Wilson Kimber: It’s painful to realize the people in charge of Iowa’s history apparently have no idea how history works. If they did, they'd know there is no way to predict what parts of the collection will be of interest 5, 20, or 100 years from now. www.bleedingheartland.com/2025/10/10/t...

I'm pretty sure they were going to do that if they had had another season.

I personally think it's amazing, but only because I identify with Frasier in this ep. I would (and have!) throw a party like that, and I have given that "the old J-man and I" line out before. Being populist in my aesthetic is exhausting.

Yes, in v. aware, hence saying it’s been getting bad for years. I think the AI integration is just another layer of enshittification. I used to be v. proficient at sourcing data & retrieving info. on old search engines w/ keywords et al.. Seems like even before AI integration that became difficult.

@tomjennings @brouhaha The five things copyright can restrict: copy, distribute, adapt, display, and perform. You could just prohibit all five.

It might not seem like much. But if ANYONE use ANY artist's work to distribute product for profit or not for profit, without the artist's permission, it's stealing.

I know there might be some people who will say, "but it's exposure!"

No. Full stop. PAY THE ARTIST.

If you don't have explicit pemission from the artist, you can NOT redistribute their work or you are violating their copyright. "Free" has nothing to do with it. "Credit" has nothing to do with it. You cannot use another person's creation without permission. Peiod.

Screencap from reddit.

"sorry I caught you off guard with the post. In the dnd homebrew space it isn't standard practice to gen in contact with artists for incorporation their work, provided that they are adequately credited and that the homebrew work is available for free, both of which are the case here."

I was going to say, "SEO was a thing before LLMs" lol. Librarians used to say "don't use Google, use databases." Now, we cheer when they use Google...

@wpaulreeve.bsky.social is widely registered as an expert regarding this part of a Mormon history, and Ben Park might have some things to say about it too. American Zion treated this issue very thoroughly.

When I say "unknown reason" I mean that all of the provided reasons by people during and after are just theological excuses for racism. So the official position of the church is "we don't know." But unofficially everyone knows it shouldn't have happened in the first place.
bringthehuman.bsky.social
Some men essentially said that, yes, and so there was a "priesthood ban" in place until 1978 for an unknown reason. But it is widely considered a mistake by anyone who has any ethics whatsoever. And you will hear people defend it, but they are quickly put in their place.

Yes that's one thing that other Christians all agree on, that us Mormons are heretics lol
bringthehuman.bsky.social
Which is ironic considering they are acting like United Christians against him, when they cannot even agree on the basics of their religion... there are almost 300 distinct Christian groups. "Christianity is the one truth," when they constantly deny each other's Christianity...

I am looking for at least ten educators who are interested in utilizing an AI tool to help them design Project-Based Learning experiences.

This would involve using a prompt I designed, creating instruction with it, and using a rubric

In any case, it is fascinating to see how #GenOER has grown and expanded. For instance, look at generativetextbooks.org to see how David Wiley has applied this idea.
