By now new followers who came here after reading my story in IT'S THE END OF THE WORLD may know I'm mostly known for my work in the splatter/extreme genre. If you're looking for something more like "Every Dog Has Its Day", the novel of mine you're gonna want to look into is SLOWLY WE ROT.

REMINDER: if you think your right-on lefty/socialist/communist/etc. politics justifies pirating books, well guess what? Most writers don't make a living wage from their books or writing work, and stealing from them makes you a class traitor.

A post by the New Beverly Cinema account reminds me that the last movie I ever saw in a drive-in was 10 to Midnight, starring Charles Bronson. The fall of 1984 in Memphis. Which apparently was a year and a half after it was released, so I guess it was on a second run or something.

Have had some pretty decent preorder numbers on this forthcoming sequel to THE FREAKSHOW the last couple days. Would be cool to keep that going...

Favorite line from last night's new episode of Pluribus: "I'm gonna Sid Vicious this shit like it's the Chelsea fuckin' Hotel."

Also watched two more great episodes of The Lowdown. Poor Lee Raybon (Ethan Hawke) keeps getting his shit mercilessly caved in in his relentless search for the truth.

In the recent Joe Hill interview on the Losers Club podcast, there's a part where he talks about a novel he wrote when he was 13/14. It was called MIDNIGHT EATS. He was describing the plot and laughing it off as obviously ridiculous, but I was thinking, 'Shit, I'd read the hell out of that.'

So we're planning to publish this one as one of our new Paperbacks from Hell. Only the book is so scarce that we can't find a copy to scan for our text. If anyone has one to lend us, send us a message. We'll swap you some free Valancourt books for your trouble!

Heard from my brother today that Americana/folk/rock singer-songwriter Todd Snider has passed away. Here's a great and funny song from a live album my late first wife and I used to listen to a lot.

Found the tweet that Joyce Carol Oates bodied Elon Musk with and it's so beautiful in its eloquent, simple take down. So much so he's crashing out trying to prove he reads books now. Put this in the Louvre.

Finally finished Joe Hill's masterful new novel KING SORROW. Loved all of its 877 pages. Well, there were some pages that upset me on an emotional level, but that's a symptom of how fully immersed I was in the story and how much I loved the world and characters (well, *most* of them) Hill created.
