Oh interesting, the San Diego Zoo has messaged me to ask if I’d take her place
After more than a century of munching on her favorite foods of romaine lettuce and cactus fruit, beloved Galapagos tortoise Gramma, the oldest resident of the San Diego Zoo, has died. https://to.pbs.org/43Tdww9
Gramma the Galapagos tortoise, oldest resident of San Diego Zoo who delighted visitors for almost a century, dies at about 141
Known as "the Queen of the Zoo," Gramma lived through two World Wars and 20 U.S. presidents.

If you like an author’s work, tell them. Buy their work. Follow them home and make them dinner. Spaghetti and meatballs. Or maybe something with shrimp. Run them a bath. Not too hot. Buy them a sea monster toy for the bath. Rrwarrr! Feed them grapes. But not in the bath. That would be weird.

I am a relatively successful writer. Each of my three novels has earned out. I have a day job, one that I have had for many years. I will have it until I am forced to retire at gunpoint. If I did not have this day job, I would not be able to write, it’s as simple as that.
I know we know this, but authors need to get better at talking about how they actually make their money. Stop pretending it's from the books.

100%. screenwriting mentors went from, 'do your homework' to 'wait HOW are you doing your homework exactly?' #ai
It's weird to not only have lived through an information revolution but also now living through its undoing, all within less than a generation.
Google at its peak was basically the best information retrieval system in human history and they and every competitor decided going from there to “you didn’t want answers you wanted half-assed auto-complete 80%-wrong hallucinations” in a few years was the right idea

For real. Read it, even if you don’t give a rat’s ass about printers.

Buy Peter’s festive book!
How To Restore a Timeline is a holiday story about violence and memory. It takes place on a special variant of December 27, 2006—one that never ends, overlapping and consuming all time that dares come after.
And I hear it makes a great gift, available everywhere you buy books.

A business that turns a profit, while making good products, that pays and retains its staff and pleases its customers won’t necessarily find a use for shoddy AI.

If the shitty output of AI seems a godsend, that’s an active decision you’ve made: to not be that sort of a business.

Incredible.
OK tonight I learned that Gaspar Noe brought Dario Argento as his +1 to meet the Pope, and this is possibly the sweetest and the maddest thing to ever happen.
The Pope got to meet Dario Argento! I wonder which of the Three Mothers trilogy is Leo's fav, I'm gonna say Inferno, cos this Pope doesn't seem like a Suspiria kinda guy.
