Society is a construct. You can just ask someone to do a ska cover of Faith of the Heart and they'll say "$300 please" and you give it to them and then you have it.

Everyone, give

If you have the space, means and collection: a northern Texas warehouse full of proto-Redbox VHS vending machines from the mid-1980s is being evicted. The machines are free and whatever isn't taken will imminently be scrapped.

The American people electing Trump after he staged a coup attempt 5 years ago was a nail in the coffin of our democracy. You can rationalize it all you want - But inflation! But wokeness! - but ultimately it was a societal suicide attempt and probably the dumbest collective voting decision ever made

Just how bad is Grok's nonconsensual porn problem? Musk's AI chatbot is generating another sexualized image of someone without their permission every single minute:

The scale of the AI-fueled, nonconsensual sexualization of women in photos on X is staggering. The internet has suffered tools like this for years, but never at this scale, with this reach, and this out in the open. from @regret.bsky.social and @mattburgess1.bsky.social
Grok Is Pushing AI ‘Undressing’ Mainstream
Paid tools that “strip” clothes from photos have been available on the darker corners of the internet for years. Elon Musk's X is now removing barriers to entry—and making the results public.

Twice in the last few months, @wired.com has reported on AI image generator startups that have left databases of images they create exposed.

In both cases, the technology was being used for AI CSAM and harmful images of women. (The companies pulled their services when we got in touch)
An AI Image Generator’s Exposed Database Reveals What People Really Used It For
An unsecured database used by a generative AI app revealed prompts and tens of thousands of explicit images—some of which are likely illegal. The company deleted its websites after WIRED reached out.

One guy tried, unsuccessfully, to blow up a plane with a bomb in his sneakers, and everybody had to take off their shoes at the airport for the next 20 years.

Chatbots have a collective body count equal to Richard "The Night Stalker" Ramirez, and they're trying to put them in schools.

I think we're seeing the beginning of a dangerous precedent here: if an AI does it, it's nobody's fault. Which is a convenient stance when so many people in the media and the tech industry are increasingly relying on AI to do their work for them.
You'd think if, in the span of a year, an AI declared itself MechaHitler and then, a few months later, became the internet's most prolific generator of CSAM, maybe the media would take a more active interest in reporting on it.

“If a woman dares to show herself in public in any way, then she can and will be sexually harassed with the aid of genAI-driven tools that can easily turn her face into highly realistic pornography” is an absolute red-alarm human rights disaster
The end goal of Grok sexual harassment is to make women afraid to be visible. It’s a punishment for daring to exist in a way the perpetrators can’t control. There’s no one solution to this, because the problem isn’t just technological. It’s cultural. It’s misogyny. This is just one expression of it.

Reminder that almost a quarter century ago, Schumer voted for the Hague Invasion Act, declaring that the US would militarily invade the Hague were it ever to be prosecuted by ICC for war crimes.

Biden did too, it was an overwhelmingly bipartisan agreement to be unaccountable to international law.
Look at how many names on this list are *still in power*, still kicking around. They weren't exactly young then, but now a lot of them are much much richer.
