Among other of Miller's intellectual deficiencies is his total ignorance of economics. The Marshall Plan was necessary and beneficial not only to the recipient states, but to the US. We needed it economically, too, and without it, the global economy would have been in tatters

We are dealing with the world's most shameless & terrible people.

I'm perfectly fine using these terms to describe the Trump Administration and MAGA movement.

I don't think they are owed any civility or grace based on their actions and behavior.

How do you shame people without shame or decency?

The previous modern standard for murdering people en masse while effecting an arrest warrant involved members of a Waco religious cult (76), or group home occupants (11) in West Philadelphia or the Chicago abode of some Blank Panthers (2 dead, more wounded). Trump now holds the record.
in how many "law enforcement operations" are damn near 100 people killed?

If the DEA had killed 80 innocent Americans in the course of apprehending one drug dealer, there would be riots. But we are so ghoulishly indifferent to the lives and humanity of people abroad that it's barely even part of the conversation.
A reminder that the US killed 80 people in Venezuela, and it would be nice if the US media cared enough to think that the life of a grandmother in Caracas whose building is destroyed by a US bomb matters as much as the life of a person in the US.

THEY KNOW THEY’RE ISSUING ILLEGAL ORDERS.

FULL STOP

Where TF is Congress??? The majority is ok with this?
Hegseth punishing Senator Kelly for his "crime" of reminding servicemembers that they're bound by UCMJ & US Constitution—and must refuse to act on illegal orders—is more evidence that Trump and Hegseth know they're issuing illegal orders and will not tolerate dissension. This is fascism in 2026 USA.

You don't need to have the necessary votes to pass a bill in order to have an effect. You are public figures with huge name recognition and an obligation to your voters, there are many things you could be doing to shape and push public opinion. You have many "cards to play."
A lot of people are mad at Schumer for saying this. But he's right. Democrats don't control a single branch of government and they can't pass anything. Only Republicans can rein in Trump because they control both chambers of Congress. Democrats have no cards to play here.
Schumer: "Republicans must -- if there was ever a time, they must step up to the plate. This is the time. And if they don't, they're gonna feel the heat from their constituents."

What X is allowing Grok to do is unlawful or regulatory-illegal in multiple jurisdictions, creates clear DSA violations, and continues despite regulator scrutiny. The images do not need to be pornographic, non-consensual sexualised or intimate depictions are enough.

The impacts of this admin recklessly shutting off all childcare funding to a state are grave. Our childcare system is struggling from an EXISTING supply crisis - anything that closes programs will have ripple effects on children, care workers, folks' ability to work, & the economy for years to come.

Precisely. This isn’t about Kelly as if they expect it to have any effect on him or other members of Congress. It’s about using his prominence to make an example of what they can and will do to people vastly less powerful and secure.
This is designed to have a chilling effect on all retired service members. The message is that if you speak out, you risk your retirement pay.

So Trump successfully bullied a good man and his family. Because winning over Harris Walz wasn’t enough. Trump wanted to destroy him.

Walz is making the right decision for his family. But the success of Trump’s grotesque bullying campaign is yet another frightening step in our national descent.

What do they have in common?

All three were started as business by media insiders based on selling to the wealthy and powerful.

They are businesses—much more so than journalism outlets. They do constant beat-sweetening.

They were all founded to be sold, not produce human flourishing.
If you'd like to reduce your blood pressure and eliminate a lot of needless in-fighting, I'd recommend muting or blocking Axios, Politico and Semafor as they seem to specialize in promoting quotes from anonymous Democratic contrarians in hopes of generating rage and engagement.

Instead, they plan to start having doctors report if they’ve discussed “alternative” vaccine schedules.
