I wish I didn’t have to share this. But the BBC has decided to censor my first Reith Lecture.

They deleted the line in which I describe Donald Trump as “the most openly corrupt president in American history.” /1

Your Glasmans, your McSweeneys, yep.

Bubble-stricken Westminster party types probably believe it too.

The real issue being, that the boss appears to be a void, with no ideas of his own, so he's reliant on his supposed underlings for them.

Unfortunately yes.

Best hope without PR is hung parliament with Greens, Independents, Lib Dems and Nationalists able to form a coalition

I fear that the fascist tribute act are simply paving the way for the full fat version though.

UK is utterly fucked if so

It's all over this. But I think it's actually a combination of factors. They also inhabit a bubble and are now heavily guided by an online radicalisation machine they shouldn't have any contact with.

Confiscating jewellery from survivors of a war zone makes you look like a fucking Nazi. And the obscene thing is, that is the intention. It's there to look appropriately harsh. Indecent. Filthy. A moral stain. And no-one of good character would have ever proposed such a thing in the first place.

My guess is they will end up u-turning on the jewellery thing (you can already see it being softening in interviews) and possibly the 20 years (which is way longer than Denmark).

Hey Labour

Remember the majority of voters who believe in treating people decently and not stealing from those who've endured months and years of hardship fleeing war and persecution to seek a place of safety?

We're still over here 👋

I live in a previously rock solid Labour ward that went to the Greens for the first time ever in a by-election earlier this year. The London local elections are in May. Do they think about the effect all this will have on what's left of their strongholds?

Someone should ask Starmer and Mahmood whether they think the Kindertransport, for example, should have been a return ticket. Whether Alf Dubs, rather than becoming a Labour MP and now Lord, ought to have been sent back with his family to Czechoslovakia once it was liberated from German rule.
This contribution to the volume of human misery is yet another policy from Labour based on a false premise, in this case that refugees are overly attracted to Britain. It will increase bureaucratic limbo, thus making worse the problem of "cohesion" it purports to solve.

UK set to limit refugees to temporary stays
Shabana Mahmood is expected to say the era of permanent protection for refugees is over, in major changes to the UK's asylum and immigration system.

My post yesterday on the $Ibn Trump legal threat against the BBC has been picked up by newspapers around the world. It would appear few had gone through the letter and spotted that, well, it contained no evidence in support of its claims of damage.

Yes, new research among ex-military reported in the New York Times showed that exposure to loud noises, even when unrelated to actual combat, damaged internal organs and left micro-striations in the brain associated with a dramatic decline in cognitive functioning and mental health.

Agreed, though professional-grade fireworks are even louder (up to 150 dB), equivalent to actual military artillery. How many people using and watching these wear ear protection? Even so, the shock waves cause permanent physical damage. There's simply no safe level of exposure to noise above 100 dB.
