Criminally underrated and disgracefully ignored . The Moody Blues should be a national treasure and more importantly a lesson for everyone that love understanding and forgiveness are more important than anything and will ultimately defeat hatred

Sad news. The Moody Blues were a large part of my teenage musical listening. They were the band that made me realise that there could be something more than a three minute pop song. RIP John Lodge

Lack of album sales. You can thank The Spotification of the music industry.

Streaming. No money from streaming and limited from physical product (coz of streaming) so income is live shows. Then the bastard Ticketmasters add their super-scamming greed

This is a good point

When I started going to gigs in the late 70s a lot of tours were effectively loss leaders for record sales, hence the relatively inexpensive tickets. That financial balancing act has been flipped on its head by streaming.

That’s partly why I baulked at it. It just seemed bonkers.

I don’t mean to be That Old Man, but I saw Floyd on their 94 tour, for a stage show that featured a dozen people on stage, hundreds of lights, lasers, pyros etc. I think it cost £34 including the bus travel from Wigan. How have concert prices escalated way beyond inflation? What new costs are there?
burningshed.com
That’s about £72 in today’s money…obviously Brexit is a factor depending where the band is from and post-COVID various costs went up but yeah.
burningshed.com
My thoughts exactly.

Good point about the associated costs.

Refused to pay £90+ for Nine Inch Nails at the Co-Op Manchester a couple of months back. Ticket plus travel, food and drink would have put it over £150. Merch was extortionate too ( and not very good).
