It's fun, but also weird, to look through the replies to news reports about the Irish presidential election & find them filled with bald bearded Americans, Germans and Australians saying things like "RIP Ireland" & "Never thought Eire would go Commie". Catherine Connolly has upset them quite a lot.

It's great that the Left combined for this election and of course kudos to the Soc Dems/Shinners/PBP but just to say Catherine Connolly put herself forward for this, as in Independent, long before she had that support - we shouldn't forget that. It was a brave thing to do. #aras25
