“In a time of darkness, New York must be the light.” 🔥

Instead of running from trans rights @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social leans into fighting for ALL New Yorkers.

He understands a good campaign tells the story of the place he’s running to represent— and the people in it.

Hard to imagine why republican members of Congress are fine with the destruction of national assets which protect everyone.
But instead of stopping this, they went on vacation.

I used to get mad when people misused "decimated" to refer to things that weren't 1/10th destroyed, but I've given it some thought and now I've done a complete 360 on it

I think bar associations really have a role to play in this revolting state of affairs. The arguments are in such blatant bad faith, the people making them should be shunned by their peers.

The case against Comey is beyond weak. The case against James is worse. It is based on a lie, and they know they're lying because exculpatory evidence that contradicts the indictment had already been presented to a grand jury in another jurisdiction. Everyone involved with this needs to be disbarred

SHAME on the Dems to help the republicans fund the military, which is openly being targeted against Democratically-run cities.

Unconstitutionally taking money that the law says must be spent on one purpose & using it for something else—when it's to establish personalist control over the FUCKING MILITARY—is about as dangerous a constitutional crisis/failure as you can imagine

The Office of Management and Budget sent a notification to Congress about their intent to use research and development funds to pay members of the military, two sources with direct knowledge tell NBC News.

A spokesperson for the OMB confirmed to NBC News that it plans to use the research and development funds and that there are two years' worth of funds available within the Department of Defense.

The more Trump ignores Congressional authority to approve all spending, the more important it is for Dems to refuse any participation in this charade.

Pretty sure they're drug addicts. The rage they muster isn't natural.
Doesn't excuse them in the least, of course

Something worth pointing out is that if Trump extends this to government employees other than the troops, this gives Dems an *enormous* tool for punishing the guilty when next in power.

If ICE agents get illegally paid, don't backfill any of it and demand full repayment. Then take houses and cars.

it's a hell of a thing to blow smoke over because either there are or are not gonna be paychecks hitting on the 15th, and if you've said you would but then don't, welp

not that I don't think they could be that dumb, but I think more likely is they try it and really Break Something in the process

They have fired the staff of the CDC’s Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report and 70 Epidemic Intelligence Service officers, who are disease detectives that respond to outbreaks around the world.

I cannot emphasize enough how dangerous it is to dismantle our disease surveillance infrastructure.

There are reports that the *entire* office of special education at the US Dept of Education has been cut. These hardworking folks ensure kids with disabilities get equal access to a quality education.

America’s children deserve better than this.

This is why I'm convinced that Russ Vought is going to be taken to the metaphorical gallows at the end of this. They're gonna need somebody to take the blame and he is frankly too stupid to realize he's being set up for a fall.

Read it all. From one small section:

Shortly after a man fired >500 rounds at CDC and killed a cop, the staff that safeguard employee, facility, and data security are gone. And the Office of Strategic Business Initiatives, that trains and supports risk management across the entire agency, is gone.
Beyond that, the CDC will not be able to function administratively, as the Office of Safety, Security, and Asset Management (OSSAM) office, which safeguards employee, facility, and data security at CDC lost its entire Occupational Health and Safety Office. Barely two months after a gunman shot more than 500 rounds at CDC and killed a police officer, the office devoted to employee safety has been The Workplace Health Office was also RIFed, as was the Office of Strategic Business Initiatives, which is charged with training and supporting risk management across the entire agency. Not only have the CDC employees been terminated, but the ones who remain will be forced to function within an organization that has eliminated mechanisms for looking after their well-being, safety, and ability to effectively do their jobs to carry out the CDC mission.

"A future president, even dumber than you, will allow Qatar, the country that harbored Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the architect of the plane attacks in NY, PA, and DC today, and whose royal family will help him escape capture by the US, to build a military base on US soil to train Qataris to fly jets."

Are republicans such a master race that they never have kids with special needs?
It can't be—just look at the current White House staff. Imagine if Stephen Miller, Tom Homan, or Kristi Noem had each gotten the help they so clearly needed as children.
capitalistfool.bsky.social
And that's a function ideal for the federal government to handle, rather than 50 separate states. So many children need specific help for a particular condition that might affect just a few kids in a state, but nationally we can create the institutional knowledge to help them so much more easily.

This has always been part of the GOP playbook: Downplay incidents of right-wing violence, and then repurpose them as supposed acts of leftist terrorism for public consumption. They first did this in 2020.
