Over the past two weeks I've begun to realize that rich people only started funding chatbots once they could no longer email Jeffrey Epstein

DHS is tracking people who protest using biometrics and entering them into databases; hunting people who send emails on behalf of asylum seekers; tracking neighbors who help immigrants w/ facial recognition and license plate readers, and Hakeem Jeffries wants more surveillance tech for every agent.

I wrote this song on Saturday, recorded it yesterday and released it to you today in response to the state terror being visited on the city of Minneapolis. It’s dedicated to the people of Minneapolis, our innocent immigrant neighbors and in memory of Alex Pretti and Renee Good.

I've somehow managed to never hear Melania speak. I'm going to try to keep that going.

We've got a great Senate candidate in South Dakota that should get more attention. Don't write off red states! No people are a monolith and no political situation is permanent.
The fundamental question, “Who are we?,”is answered by what we do next. #julianforsd

FWIW, I'm a cis woman who is bad at sports, but when members of our college football team came to our middle-aged heavy pilates class last year, they slowly crumpled around us, including getting out-planked by an 80 year old lady. Different bodies are good at different stuff.
The very kindest interpretation I can give someone with 'sincere concerns' is that they think that cis women are biologically predisposed to be bad at sports.

I feel like closing the schools to minimize the harm of a highly debilitating & potentially lethal airborne disease was way preferable to closing the schools so your mom doesn’t get shot

I'm still thinking about this. How do we change this party at the grassroots level?
I'm a democratic committee person for a small county in a red state. The dems in my county, and most in my state are shocked and outraged at what happened yesterday. I'm sure this is true all over the country. What can folks like us do to send pressure up to change leadership? (asking seriously)

I posted this in response to people expressing hopelessness and despair and someone just post quoted it “NO THAT’S ADVICE FOR CHILDREN GO DO SOMETHING” so I blocked them because that’s being an annoying douche and if I could block them across the fucking multiverse I would.
Look for the helpers.

Faced with evil, watch for the decent people standing against it.
A friend in Minneapolis just sent me this video. Looks like thousands have come together for a vigil after an ICE agent shot and killed 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good. This was my neighborhood for several years before coming to Portland.

We are fighting fascism in Minneapolis because like Zora wrote, they’ll kill you and say you enjoyed it.

More Americans got measles this week than Olivia Nuzzi’s book. Guess which got more press coverage.
1. Measles is ravaging South Carolina.

Over 100 people infected, and hundreds more in quarantine.

In response, RFK Jr., the nation's top public health official, has been SILENT

But it's much worse than that. RFK Jr. and his allies are undermining confidence in the vaccine
As measles ravages South Carolina, RFK Jr. undermines the vaccine
There is a massive measles outbreak spreading rapidly in Upstate South Carolina.

The USPS posting a NINE BILLION DOLLAR LOSS!!! sounds terrible. Certainly worse than if you said "USPS costs thirty dollars per person per year" even though that means the same thing and more accurately describes a government service

I was just thinking I hadn't seen any 'don't give your money to whichever org' this season, but that was short lived. Just a reminder that many orgs are run completely differently in different cities - learn who's helping & how in your town instead of using it as an excuse not to help.

With the exception of three years in MN for college, I've lived in South Dakota my entire life. I'm 4th generation. There's not a single picture of Kristi Noem in cowgirl drag that looks like anything I've ever seen here in my life. She is an absolute caricature. The hair is pretty classic SF tho.

Firing federal workers across government, many of whom are veterans.

Gutting SNAP & Medicaid, which millions of veterans need.
