Science (chemistry laboratory) by day, crochet by night, easily distracted all the time. Love my dog, my books, my peace and quiet, and my craft projects. "Set your course by the stars, not by the lights of every passing ship." ~Omar Bradley~ she/her
It's been too cold for walks so my dog was stir crazy, and since my parents lost their dog on the 1st I took her over to see her grandparents. She climbed into the chair with my dad, jumped on the couch with my mom, and ran around the house sniffing everything.

Then she ate dinner and went to bed.

"Vast majority of men are only willing to engage in public violence if they feel like the people around them will approve of — and reward them for — that violence. ICE Watch works because it surrounds men seeking approval with people loudly expressing their disapproval."

I am so fucking exhausted of having to pay any attention at all to that fucking demented dipshit. He's nothing but a waste of the oxygen powering his metabolism.

I'm not sure why I laughed so much at this but I did. Especially when I heard the little *bonk* at the end when the male squirrel was ejected. 😄
This wheel is to the boy squirrel the way that the football is to Charlie Brown and it still makes me laugh every time he tries to use it only to be immediately spun.

If you don't want to be exposed to US government Bluesky accounts, there is a block list you can add that will handle it for you. They added ICE before I even knew they came here.

Got halfway through a Lego build and my eyes are too tired to finish tonight. But snapping tiny bricks together was a mentally calming activity.

I'm going to have to find space to put more shelving units up to display my Legos if they keep coming out with cool botanical sets all the time.

“That’s fine dude, I’m not mad at you.” — Renee Nicole Good’s last words to the ICE agent who killed her moments later.

“Fuckin’ bitch.” — voice on ICE agent Jonathan Ross’s video after he shoots her.

The number of Gestapo in Germany was 32,000. The population was 70 million. That's one Gestapo for every 2200 citizens.

The number of ICE agents is 20,000. The population of the US is 348 million. That's one ICE agent for every 17,000 citizens.

There are more of us.

AAAAAAAAAHHHH! 🙂🙂🙂
I'm excited to announce the official Nullschool app is here!

earth.nullschool.net on mobile browsers works fine, but the app is nicer. Full screen display, persistence across sessions, text size that matches device settings. Even landscape works well.

And, like the website: no ads!

Weird how you never hear about the Proud Boys or 3-percenters anymore.

Almost like they all got jobs or something.

This is really good and expresses better than I ever could why the concept of "lies" or "hallucinations" drives me up the wall. To lie implies that it could even recognize what the truth is, and a bit of code doesn't DO that in the human sense.
Anthropomorphizing language can be cute when applied to your favorite car, but it helps to muddy the discourse when applied to tech sold as "AI". New from me & @nannainie.bsky.social on @techpolicypress.bsky.social -- how to spot & revise away from anthropomorphizing language applied to "AI"

This is SO WEIRD. The classmates I knew 35+ years ago in college studying computer science were so normal, and now... I'd feel sadder for them if they weren't okay with stuff like eugenics etc.
If you made a Venn diagram of every weird person I knew in Silicon Valley during the first dot-com boom, centrifuged it, extracted the pellet, and re-suspended it in high-proof eugenics with a splash of AI, you'd end up with something like this.

It'll take a strong stomach to read this "gift" link.

I have a bag full of DVDs that, considering I no longer have a DVD player and got rid of my TV when it broke a while back, I can't watch. And yet the feeling of wanting to hold onto physical media "just in case" is so strong that I'm having a hard time putting them in my donate box. 😕
