Excellent news
BREAKING: The controversial hepatitis B vaccine trial in Guinea-Bissau has been *cancelled,* I can now report. A senior official with Africa CDC confirmed the cancellation and said GB officials are working to make sure any research is conducted ethically:

I think we need a Carrie A. Nation for online gambling.
as prevalent as online gambling is, do you know a single person thats made money? enough to take a vacation?
All these Draft Kings and Fan Duel ads should be required to disclose that if you consistently win your bets you’ll get kicked off their platforms.

CBP agent demands ID from a woman on the street in Minneapolis and says, “We’re doing an immigration check. We’re doing a citizen check.”

She refuses to comply and says she is a US citizen. The agent then threatens her with “federal charges.” She responds, “I belong here.”

AND THEN CBP LEAVES:
This woman is harder than goddamn steel dealing with these goddamn thugs. I want her to be my neighbor.

Remembering today that having your heart broken is a necessary step on the path to becoming fully human. Whichever heartbreak is your first, it’s probably critical that a state break your heart so that you can develop a political imagination. If this is your first, I’m sorry and also welcome.

this is why teaching history feels so important to me right now.
The thing I always come back to is how many people never despaired against longer odds, and how arrogant it would be to put myself above them.
