Generic November Writing Challenge 2025 - Day 23

“I’m less worried about her than I am about AY…Anthony,” he admitted. “He’ll think I’m trying to dump all the work on him.”
“Are you?” Chae-seo asked, turning away from the sink and grabbing a nearby towel.
Chris grinned. “Maybe.”
Chae-seo flicked the towel in his direction, the hit only making Chris laugh, his head tipping back and a hand going up to his chest.
“Go on,” she challenged, taking on a facsimile of Marley’s barely-hanging-on Southern twang. “Git.”
He beat a hasty retreat out the back door, and Erin could hear Anthony hollering at him, though she couldn’t make out the words exactly. Chae-seo huffed, hands on her hips and looking pleased with herself.
“You’re so comfortable with each other already,” Erin pointed out, awed but a little uncertain.
“He makes it easy,” Chae-seo admitted. “He’s…charming.”
Erin nodded slowly. “He said his series was built for espionage. He…he said Jack was pretty enough to be a ‘doll’ like him.”
Something crossed Chae-seo’s face. Something Erin couldn’t quite read.
“Well,” she said after a time, turning to Erin with a tight smile. “That would explain it.”
“Jack doesn’t seem to think he’s here to spy on us,” Erin said quickly, a sense of guilt making itself at home in her ribcage.
“No,” Chae-seo agreed. “I didn’t get that sense either. Charming’s just…his default. Probably doesn’t know how to be anything else.”
“Charming’s not a bad thing to be.”
Chae-seo smiled again, a little more natural this time. “No. It’s not.”

“You were a soldier,” she said firmly. “Thrust into a situation that you had no say in. You did the same horrible things that any other man would have done in the same situation. I know the stories of war. I know what horrible things my ancestors have done and have had done to them in turn. I am Cherokee. I am Irish. My family knows hunger two-fold. The trauma still lives in the building blocks that made me. I…”

She let out a shaky breath. “I know I was naïve. I know I should have known that greedy men will do what greedy men have always done and aimed for suffering because saving people doesn’t turn a profit. But I’m not so stupid that I don’t understand that you have blood on your hands. That doesn’t make them any less worthy of holding me, if I that’s what I want from them.”

“Is it?” he asked, voice small and trembling. There was no soldier here, only a man who had never been touched with gentleness. “What you want, I mean.”

“If that’s still a question in your mind, then clearly I haven’t kissed you enough.”

So it's a scene from the film Star Trek Into Darkness (TWoK2.0) starring Buckingham Crumplestarch. We're in some large atrium kind of room, full walls of windows with shining light coming through. Airport terminal feel, but more future space airport, v sleek. There's people standing and sitting about, or walking to and fro.
Centered are two aliens, apparently conversing. One is standing up and walking, the other is crawling on all fours. Standing alien fella has a rocky ledge looking head and skin surface. Neuroscientist here... creativity is a process. A process. A FUCKING PROCESS. Not an output.
Nobody is gatekeeping the process - Al simply invites you to skip to the end, to the output. Which, as mentioned, is not creativity.
Nobody cares if the output is aesthetically pleasing, because the process, the act itself, the limitation of a single human mind and the resulting creations that capture that one single inimitable human experience... is what makes a creation worth paying attention

Generic November Writing Challenge 2025: Day 18

“We’ll find another way,” he promised her. “We’ll talk to Chae-seo. Maybe her contacts at the university can get you the raw chemicals.”

She shook her head. “The raw ingredients are too dangerous to have in such a small space. That’s why TC had me use Universal Component in the first place.” She gave him a wry smile. “They were trying to use my formulas to make weapons, after all.”

“Dammit, sunshine, we can’t just give up!” Jack insisted. “Not after all you went through to make sure they couldn’t do that!”

Erin let out a soft sigh through her nose. “I guess I’ll just have to be content with the fact they don’t have any of my formulas at all.”

“Yeah, but…” Jack hesitated, frustration evident in the pinch of his brows. His next words came out raw and breathy. “Fuck, sunshine. You were gonna save the world.”

Her breath hitched, the hopelessness of it all hitting her in the chest like a wave. Tears spilled over her cheeks once more, hot and wet and thicker than before. Her vision blurred, but it didn’t matter once she buried her face in Jack’s broad, warm chest.

Erin couldn’t believe this. There wasn’t anything at all between them. Technically, she was his kidnapping victim, whisked away from everything she’d ever known because he’d popped up into her life to screw everything up. If he’d never been hired, she’d be home, working on her formula and cuddling with her cat.

But he had been hired. And instead of killing her like he was hired to do, he saved her from what might have been a worse fate at the hands of Trance Corp. He kept her work from being twisted into something that could only be called evil. And he stuck around because…he felt responsible for her, she supposed. Or maybe he felt guilty. Not just for what was happening with her, but for all of the things he’d done since being spat out of a test tube and onto a battlefield. He was probably just keeping her alive as some kind of penitence.
But, if that was the case, why would he hold her so sweetly after her nightmare?

Erin pushed the thought away quickly, but not before it managed to make her chest ache with something she didn’t want to name. Because naming something gave it power. Naming something made it linger.

She glanced over her shoulder at Jack, watching as his pout shifted into a soft smile when he caught her looking. It was too late. Even without a name, that feeling was going to make itself at home in the spaces between her ribs, honey sweet and sticky.

She was royally and utterly fucked.
