Interesting to admit that ICE is not primarily about immigration law enforcement, but a personal goon squad of the Trump administration. Great strategy to introduce the goon squad to the international community where you cannot hide their purpose for PR.

If you cannot kill the monster outright, you defang it and declaw it until it might as well be dead. Sometimes winning is sly and subtle. I need people to be smarter now, we cannot afford for you all to have such childish ideas of success.
I feel a lot of people are so intent on the end goal that they lose all context.
Dems are demanding real improvements. Are they wholly sufficient? Of course not! Senate Dems will probably be the first to admit that.
But the alternative is nothing. Abolish ice is not an actual possible outcome here

I'm going to ask the obvious question, what were they like towards migrants at the border who were not surrounded by white people with cameras? It's truly terrifying to think.
The murders in Minnesota are by guys who have 8+ yrs with Border Patrol (Ross was BP before joining ICE). They’ve been doing this unconstitutional, window-smashing bush league crap the entire time… but at the border. It’s not just lack of training for noobs, they’re all being trained to dehumanize.

On NPR on Friday, there was a story of a 4-year-old--an American citizen--who hasn't left her house since early December, not even to play in the yard. And her 8-year-old brother recently stopped going to school, too. Their father is undocumented, and the family doesn't want to risk him being taken.

In order to be brave, you need to believe that there is something more important than your own personal safety. It takes selflessness. They are incapable of considering anyone or anything else more important than themselves.
I do think that a possibly underrated dynamic in The Horrors is that the Right as it has reconstituted itself under Trump legitimately can’t understand sincere moral or physical courage
