My Bluesky name is the name of a fictional black woman from television. This is a friendly reminder that the TV character is fake, is not the creator of the television show and has not been accused of any crimes. Thank you.

Liam and all the kids in those horrible facilities need to go home. Still upset these places weren't shut down years ago and even more angry now.
In an interview with MPR News, Liam's mother gave an update on her son and her own safety. She said Liam asks again and again, “Mommy, why don’t you pick us up?” Or “Mommy, we don’t want to be here anymore. This place is ugly.”
‘Mommy, why don’t you pick us up?’: Mother of Liam Conejo Ramos shares her story from hiding
Liam and his father are currently being held by federal authorities in the South Texas Family Residential Center in Dilley, an hour plus drive southwest of San Antonio.

Citing fear of ICE, pregnant immigrants in Minnesota are

-skipping prenatal care
-requesting home births, even when not medically advised
-going w/o adequate food

Many are experiencing complications providers say can be stress-onset: diabetes, high blood pressure, and even water breaking early
Fear of ICE is keeping pregnant immigrants in Minnesota from critical care
Health care providers in Minnesota said pregnant patients are having more complications linked to stress. But fear of immigration agents is keeping them from prenatal care.

I dropped ~20 off at the Corner Coffee on Nicollet Mall. I talked to the cashier and found out about this food drive! It's one of the only places to get an espresso tonic downtown and they are excellent. The art and plants create an amazing ambiance. Support them! The workers are artists!

If nothing else comes of this moment I really need BW to be about power gathering and wielding for collective ends. Repaying Seats At The Table with grateful incrementalism was never enough. It's never going to BE enough.
Running this back because I just saw a "No, not THAT one, this other BW is more "relatable," a general election still 3 years away.

I want the collective effort BW put into propping up a system that turns on us the second we have access to real power to be applied to something that loves us back.
One of the most bewildering things about not stanning politicians of any variety, and being critical of an electoral only solution to the current political environment?

How often I'm irritated as much or more by people wrap all that up in misogynoir because y'all cannot extend full humanity to BW.

The news about HCMC (Hennepin Healthcare, I know, but I just cannot) cutting departments, staff and programs is scary, man. They provide so much care to people who wouldn't have it otherwise, and the implications of that going away are massive.

It's almost February so I'll be ordering my 50lb promix bag to start some plants this weekend. I bought a little indoor greenhouse for them. We're selling starter plants in April/ May. We're also probably leaving the Midtown Farmers Market for The People's Market and maybe a market in the W Suburbs

I wish I knew. His story is appalling and yet few media outlets have covered it.

He’s been in the US since he was two years old.

Wasting away in an ICE camp for a year.

They really hate disabled people.

His crime was a burglary when he was 16 and he received a full pardon.

ICE refuses to acknowledge it. It’s despicable.

ICE has been holding a disabled Black man for a year!

Rodney Taylor is a double amputee who was days away from receiving new prosthetic legs when ICE took him.

He’s been denied his prosthetics & placed in solitary.

His health is declining.

Public outrage might save his life.
