I think the bulk my efforts learning to draw were bic mechanical pencils and spiral notebooks. I didn't start using nice supplies for like, years. This isnt even work I ever showed anyone and I doubt I'm alone in that. You can also do some beautiful work with bic pens with enough practice.

Instead of genAI memes and images, can we go back to poorly drawing things in MS paint or putting together shitty meme edits by photo bashing?
Just make a comic with stick figures to get your joke across if that’s all you can manage. It’s still funnier than using AI.

one interesting thing about animation is that even though institutional knowledge is being lost thanks to industry churn and corporate malpractice, fans themselves have picked up the slack and continue to carry on older styles and practices.
Production art I did in late-2024 of SQUIM on the Smiling Friends episode "Squim Returns"! I just adore this character and I had so much fun drawing him! Once again, huge thanks to Zach Hadel, Michael Cusack, and Aron Fromm for having me design this critter! 🤪
