Powerful storm.. My first geography paper as a masters student was research on shoreline erosion from coastal storms on New Jersey barrier islands, and impact of human made structures (jetties, seawalls, artificial dunes) on beach width. The Ash Wednesday storm 1962 was the most destructive/erosive.

For South Jersey and Delaware, it appears this will be the most significant coastal storm in 10 to 15 years. Major impacts, particularly from gusty winds, beach erosion, and coastal flooding. We explain impacts and the latest on active Western weather below or at theeyewall.com.
Major coastal flooding and beach erosion coming for the Jersey Shore and Delmarva, while storminess continues out West
Biggest coastal storm impacts in 10 to 15 years for Delaware and South Jersey

A classic case of irresponsible both-sidesism from the NYT. The story is that Trump and MAGA propagandists are lying about Portland to incite a conflict, not that there are different views of the matter.

A Newsmax host defended ICE agents shooting a minister in the head with a pepper ball by falsely claiming he was “actually an antifa member masquerading as a pastor.”

Would those stories be picked up and worth the effort, given how much the media landscape has changed, faced massive reductions and splintered from 1995 to 2025?

It seems like the cause of some minor furor every year but you'd think people would have internalized that the Nobel Peace Prize is a little suspect after Kissinger and Arafat each got one.

The Speaker of the House is telling the Fox News audience that a peaceful demonstration by Americans on the National Mall will actually be a gathering of organizations the administration has designated as violent terrorists.

Seems bad?

Mike Johnson: "We're so angry about it. I mean, I'm a very patient guy, but I've had it with these people. The theory we have right now -- they have a hate America rally that's scheduled for October 18 on the National Mall. It's the pro-Hamas wing and antifa people ... "

They make up lies about paid agitators doing violence, and attach them to the name of a prominent Jewish person. This is antisemitism, and it infects every part of the GOP.

Sen. Roger Marshall: "October 18 is when the protest gets here. This will be a Soros paid-for protest for his professional protesters. The agitators show up. We'll have to get the National Guard out. Hopefully it will be peaceful. I doubt it."

Data centers are receiving billions in state tax exemptions.

These centers, many owned by Big Tech giants, are driving up electric bills and sucking up huge amounts of water.

AI is boosting the stock portfolios of the richest Americans while everyone else pays the price.

I feel like a broken record, but I have to keep saying it over and over again: a farmer bailout won’t do much of anything because the market is gone. There will be no incentive to plant next year.

The bailout will help payoff farmer debt to the banks. That’s all.

My gosh. After the US bombed multiple boats in the middle of the ocean, murdering people on grounds that they were allegedly "carrying drugs," the US Attorney General says "Just like we did with cartels, we're going to take the same approach, President Trump, with Antifa."
