this criticism rests on the idea that we can solve societal problems by throwing money at politicians and nonprofits. If I lived in Gotham I'd prefer the big bat guy stopping Killer Croc from eating me over a billionaire opening a vanity mental health clinic or shuffling the police budget around
Remember that every dollar Bruce Wayne puts into a giant bat-shaped plane or tight fitting leather fetish gear is a dollar that he could spent lobbying politicians for mental health or police reform

This is a point I don't think enough analysts grasp: there is no way, under the laws of physics and principles of math as we currently understand them, for genAI in its current product offering to break even.
Like, think about the scale of this. These companies are losing billions of dollars a month. They lose more money per month the bigger they get. They *inherently* lose more money the bigger they get.
The 2026 military budget is $961.6 billion. They would need to spend more than that.

Early TTRPGs didn't have the "only ask for rolls when there are stakes" guidance because they assumed there would be always some sort of stakes involved, as you're supposed to have, you know, adventures, while playing the bloody adventure game
