I really wish we'd stop calling them climate "skeptics" or "vaccine skeptics", if you jump off a cliff we don't call you a "gravity skeptic"

You've been kidnapped. The characters from the last show you watched are trying to rescue you. Who's coming to save you?

I really don’t think we can overstate the harm that the tech ethos of move fast and break things (followed by the unsaid “and then just move on”) has done beyond tech. Government, ngos, universities, public schools that have invited the folks who think like this in keep ending up gutted
All DOGE accomplished was purging critical government staff, handing private data to outsiders, and sentencing thousands in developing countries to death by gutting USAID.

I don’t say this lightly: if there were any justice in this world, the people responsible for this devastation would be in jail
DOGE 'doesn't exist' with eight months left on its charter
U.S. President Donald Trump's Department of Government Efficiency has disbanded with eight months left to its mandate.

Time for the last lecture of term, my "warfare in early modern Europe" lecture where students are like "finally a class that's not about religion" and I get to be like "surprise, guess what all these wars are about?!"

Just saw a care and feeding letter from someone whose sibling had chosen a name for their niece that would make her initials FUK and I have an out of the box solution she can propose to the parents to be: a second middle name that starts with N, and singing baby a lot of funk music.

So I'm currently watching Ally McBeal because I've run out of new TV to stream and I just need to know, is this an Always Sunny situation where we're supposed to think the characters suck? Or is it a Rory Gilmore situation where the writers mistakenly think they're charming?

What do we figure are the odds that Olivia Nuzzi tried to but on Biden and didn't get anywhere and that's the root of her animosity toward him

My energy for making fancy desserts is greatly diminished since EG was born but I used up some of it this weekend to make this London Fog Basque Cheesecake with blueberry sauce and it was divine

One of you (@taylorschu.bsky.social?) recently recommended If the S in Moose Comes Loose by Peter Hermann and it's a hit in our house. EG cannot get enough, she makes me read it multiple times a day and loses it laughing every time.

a mental health crisis among British students whilst universities are pushing faculty to accept or even encourage students using generative AI is a catastrophe waiting to happen
1.This is not the only known example we know of ChatGPT cheering on a vulnerable young person to die by suicide, this time it is a recent Texas A&M grad
2. Every single university that has invited OpenAI into our midst should be asked to account for their choices.

We need to put pressure on our governments to pressure Israel to let this money go to Palestinians of Gaza. People from around the world donated millions of dollars to thousands of global organizations and none of it has made it to the people it was meant for
People gave a record amount of money to multiple organizations for the people of Gaza and all this money just sat there for the past 2 years because Israel blocked it. I hope this money gets distributed quickly now so that the people of Gaza don't have to beg anymore

We generally include Halloween pencils and stickers alongside our candy offerings for trick or treaters and every year I am flabbergasted all over again that they are by far the most popular items.

Anyone who wants to argue needs to post an example of media in which a right winger makes a good-faith effort to listen to and understand the rest of us.
We've gotten so many of these pieces where a liberal engages in a good-faith effort to understand Trump voters. Every time, they discover that there's no deeper sympathetic reason they hold their views. They're just misinformed and hateful. My own efforts have found this too.
