Embarrassing shithole of a country.
With Rachel Reeves reportedly set to apply a new tax on tuition fees paid by overseas students, most Britons support such a move at the previously mooted level of 6%

Support: 57%

Watching Star Trek Voyager. It's easy to dismiss the Maquis as a niche group of extremists but actually it sounds like quite a big tent.

Anyone who has ever been in the Labour Party will know how utterly rammed with privilege it is. To most of those who succeed internally, poverty is when the fridge runs low on Bollinger.

They are incapable of comprehending true desperation and fear because they will never experience it.
As many of you know, I do a lot of volunteer work with asylum seekers and refugees. One thing that’s going on is that Labour’s hostility towards migrants and the counterbattery from Tories and Reform is causing horrific fear and anxiety among vulnerable people who deserve our protection.

Understandably so. He did far more for Bill Clinton than he did for Ukraine.

For those unfamiliar with German culture, today is one of those days in the calendar where our state, which is definitely definitely separated from church, imposes criminal penalties if not everybody decides to observe the silent serenity of a Christian holiday.

I don't think he's on here so can't tag him, but I just watched the lovely James Cullimore's talk on building a mobile game for the first time and it was genuinely wonderful, so you should watch it too.

Game is pretty neat too!

Ah yes British patriotism. Not defined by its own merit, but by how much one dislikes others.

If patriotism for your country stands entirely on hatred for others, your patriotism doesn't mean shit. 👍
Why do people think England flags have been raised on lampposts?

Anti-migrant/minority sentiment: 49%

Ethnic minority adults

My latest "I probably can't call myself working class anymore" moment:

I saw someone talking about going to Poundland and I assumed they were talking about a hookup.

Not one person would consider that "peace plan" to be acceptable were their own country in Ukraine's place. Not one.

The enshittification is truly real.

Todoist proudly released a load of AI nonsense lately. Asking you to pay far more for it too.

Today you can't access your completed tasks because the endpoint times out with a 503.

Slowly moving to the stage where I'm just going to build all my own tools.

The tendency of Coroners to ignore guidance from the Chief Coroner, the reality of trans existence, and the wishes of bereaved parents, and express their own views in the death certificate, is both contemptible and unlawful.

We have a legal team ready to go; we will challenge it in the High Court.

If AI can replace your staff, it can probably replace your product (and company) too.
One thing I'd caution against those who say "what my company does can be done entirely with AI... I don't need to pay actual people"...

If that's true, then what are you building that your customers can't just use ChatGPT to get?

My mum just said to me "You should be hung like a horse". When I challenged her over saying such a thing, it transpires she thought it was a punishment horses got. Turns out she's been incorrectly using the phrase since the 90s in various settings
