Hi guys, did you already know there are competitions for window tinting? With better commentators than most of the tennis matches I’ve watched on ESPN? (Low bar I know)

Anyway if you need to procrastinate harder than you’ve ever procrastinated before, I got you

Brilliant piece on the casual erasure of of a female artist from a landmark moment in pop culture. And the answer to the question, Why don’t Peter Blake’s other album covers have the power and impact of Sgt. Pepper?

Years ago I wrote this piece about national treasure and dreadful old c**t Peter Blake. Have just dredged it up for my new best friend @typetheclouds.bsky.social who had the good sense to buy my fucking book™ at the Hastings book fair.

The Curious Case of the Disappearing Artist
We all have pet causes. Mine include Amnesty International, Yorkshire Cat Rescue and re-writing the artist Jann Haworth back into art history.

Saw Ben Wheatley's new film Bulk last night, made in secret, using obsolete S-VHS cameras, iPhones & VFX made from Airfix kits ordered off the internet. The end credits, hand-drawn by Wheatley, offer instructions on how to do the same at home if you want to. This is the anti-AI art we need.

How media works: In its haste to fawn over and elevate far-right agitators, the BBC yesterday platformed a high profile insurance fraudster.

On BBC Breakfast shortly to talk about the National TV Awards nominations.

Adolescence is up for New Drama, with Stephen Graham and Owen Cooper up for Drama Performance.

Nothing for Erin Doherty, though.

But why are they not all by open submission? Just yet again perpetuates the same gatekeeping/who you know culture that is so limiting.

Sex-reversal in birds (genetically male/female but appear female/male) is surprisingly common. Best detail: A genetically male bird called a laughing kookaburra had recently laid an egg. (1/2)

Five years on, we look at the state of arts funding and realise that this wasn’t a suggestion… it was a threat.

As usual… Lyn is bang on the money… if there was any money left. 😓

“Starved of investment, British theatre has been cut to the bone. On the fringe, you can see the bones, and you can see them crumbling in front of your eyes.”

Polished fringe shows from overseas shine an ugly light on UK arts funding, says Lyn Gardner 👇

Something I've been thinking about AI recently is that it is actually solving a problem that human beings have been wrestling with for centuries or maybe more.
It's filling in the gaps.
Blank page, it fills in the gaps.
Don't understand, it fills in the gaps.
Bored? It fills in the gaps.
But..1/

You know that classic Edward Hopper painting evoking isolation and despair? We used AI to make it look terrible for no reason

Oh gosh! An absolute legend and one of my favourite lecturers at Central. How sad. RIP Sally 💔

Sally Mackey — dear friend and colleague for 30+ years. A driving force in Drama Ed and Applied Theatre and one of the architects of Central as a modern HE drama school that trains practitioners, educators and thinkers under one roof. I’ll miss the long calls, the wine, the cookery tips. RIP.

If you're using AI to write essays, eulogies, a text to your wife, I do think less of you as a person. Ceding your mental and creative abilities to a machine is an embarrassing thing and people should be ashamed to admit doing it in public.

We need to teach people the difference between being uncomfortable and being unsafe. Because the discomfort of the safest people is endangering the most vulnerable, all day every day.
