When illness felled me and ended my medical career, when I moved to the "other end of the stethoscope" as they say, I realized so many things. The unimaginable value in knowing you've been heard, chief among them. I so wish I could practice again, knowing what I live every day.

thought we were told that the actual filter material of the blue procedure mask was actually a pretty good filter but that the problem was their lack of fit - which could be completely mitigated by properly taping all around the edges of it?

I finally just texted myself a selection of names, accents, symbols etc. and pasted this various collection into a digital Sticky Note from which I can copy and paste.

The alphabet thing never lets me down. If you don't know it, you start medium-slowly saying the alphabet out loud. And there will be a letter that you hesitate at. Might be really brief but you'll feel it. If you don't, then start again. That will be one of her initials, guaranteed.

How come no one, absolutely no one has thought to fit a hook above a urinal so you can hang a bag on whilst taking a piss in a shop or railway station toilet? Leaving your bag at the side or behind you is the perfect opportunity for thieves. Come on guys, do the right thing.

Leo questioned a world where the wealth of the elite grows
"exponentially" while many "millions of people die of hunger or survive in conditions unfit for human beings." He also criticized "ideologies that defend the absolute autonomy of the marketplace and financial speculation,"
with false promises "that a free-market economy will automatically solve the problem of poverty."

Leo described a "new tyranny," which shuns any kind of oversight and where the economy is structured "in such a way that sacrifices are demanded of the masses in order to serve the needs of the powerful." The poor, he wrote, are only allowed "drops that trickle down."

The pope openly challenged "prosperity theology" and called Christians to the practice of giving charity. "It will not solve the problem of world poverty, yet it must still be carried out, with intelligence, diligence and social responsibility," he wrote.

Popular movements that challenge "the empire of money," invite people to take on the cause to combat poverty alongside the poor, instead of on their behalf, and "make history," the pope said. It our duty, Leo said, to "make their voices heard, albeit in different ways, in order to point out and denounce such structural issues, even at the cost of appearing foolish or naïve."

In my personal experience, even moreso. And private/small landlords have a tendency to find a good tenant and want to keep them because the turnover costs too much (time, effort, money).
