The Jays are already losing a bunch of draft stuff just signing Cease. They might as well get Tucker and Díaz too, since those penalties would be relatively less now.

I originally thought Gausman was the perfect comp for Cease in the couple years leading up to free agency (3.30/3.31 FIPs in 354/357 innings) but Ray is the slightly better comp overall, and I find it funny that those were the guys who the Jays essentially made the choice between four years ago.

How much did MLB fans care about the BBWAA MVP announcements? It was the most-watched MVP Show in MLB Network’s history dating back to 2012, with Aaron Judge barely beating out Cal Raleigh for the AL MVP and Shohei Ohtani unanimously winning the NL MVP.

Dylan Cease is no longer at the top of my pitcher wish list.
fastball is Joe Ryan's but he sits 95 and touched 100, great splitter, yesavage's reverse slider. Like a low-slot Yesavage too, but better command... probably. Improved his walk rate year over year three times.
