I'd rather be crinoid hunting.

Invertebrate enthusiast, Paleo artist, Fossil prep, President of Friends of the University of Michigan Museum of Paleontology

All right, let's do this one last time.

My name is David Clark. I was bitten by a radioactive crinoid, and for 13 years I was on the bird site as clarkeocrinus.

I'm pretty sure you know the rest.

Republicans really want to kill Americans.

Especially if they can make money doing it.

So either Trump spoke to Bolsonaro about plotting to escape to the US right before the latter got caught trying to saw off his ankle monitor, or Trump imagined a conversation he didn’t have. Both scenarios are incredibly dark
An amazing new Trump controversy, Part II of II:

- Saturday afternoon: Trump says he spoke to Bolsonaro the night before and planned to see him “in the very near future”

- Monday afternoon: The Trump White House isn’t sure whether Trump actually had the conversation he referenced two days earlier
White House hedges on Trump’s curious claim about his call with Brazil’s Bolsonaro White House hedges on Trump’s curious claim about his call with Brazil’s Jair Bolsonaro
Did the Republican president talk to Bolsonaro as the Brazilian plotted to escape? Trump said yes, but the White House isn’t so sure.

Every bit of this only reinforces Joyce Carol Oates’ absolute roast of Elon Musk as fundamentally lacking in the ability to enjoy anything normally human. “I built a tool that can insult people in a social setting better than anything ever invented” is a real personal tell.
Everything about this might be the saddest thing I’ve ever seen

This is what I draw/paint invertebrates.

We need more art, even if it's speculative. Create things!
Working on invertebrate #paleoart at the moment, knowing I'm probably making mistakes despite best efforts, consulting primary literature etc. Inverts are much like fossil plants: there are few accessible resources on their appearance so we must wing it, or go down deep rabbit holes to restore them.

if there's a reason to keep up the "tribunals for all involved" discourse one such reason it is to put in stark relief how far away some of the Dem politicking is from the mood on the ground

Yeah this has become the utter pain of what we once had. Used to be you'd run to Google for a trusted and quick search and now I try to avoid it when I can

I don't know, I just think art should be an earnest, heartfelt expression of emotion and lived experience, you know? A machine that cannot cringe cannot make art.

I actually thought I had shared this on here and I hadn't. But if you want to look at why Tehran has to move it's climate change, yes, but it's genuinely fascinating as a failure of long term planning/ not understanding water supplies.
you'd think the forced displacement of 10 million people from one of the oldest centres of civilisation in human history would get a little more news attention than beltway journalists writing essays on how Olivia Nuzzi is a genius because they want to bone her and you'd be wrong
'Iran’s capital must be moved because the country “no longer has a choice,” President Masoud Pezeshkian said on Thursday in remarks carried by state media, warning that severe ecological strain has made Tehran impossible to sustain'

Democrats should make crystal clear that whether it is high level Trump officials, commanders carrying out illegal murders, or ICE/CPB goons, investigations and indictments are coming—referring to state AGs if Trump blanket pardons for federal crimes.

There were two US citizens in the car. They were apprehended and detained for “obstructing” ICE by honking their horn to let people know ICE was in the neighborhood.

Welcome back to #fossilfriday

Here is the crinoid Arthroacantha carpenteri with a Platycerid snail attached. These snails are Coprophagous which means they ate fecal matter. The snail would attached to the anal chimney of the crinoid and would feed on the waste.

Platycrinites bozmanensis crinoid from the remote Mississippian Lodgepole Fm. of Montana. This specimen also has a Platycerid snail attached to the calyx (bottom left).

These snails were coprophages and would eat expelled waste from the crinoid.
