I saw a discussion about "authentic" queer stories being visceral/extreme as opposed to "safe" queer stories, and while I won't get into that, I do want to point out that this is not a distinction the opposition sees. In their eyes, there is no difference between Steven Universe and Manhunt.
I think something to remember is that no piece of queer media, no matter how coded, tender, exploitive, or cringe, was ever released without queer creators behind the scenes fighting an absolute battle to get it out.

So I’ve had my 1st Black History Month event cancellation because of “DEI concerns,” citing a fear of frivolous suits. Funny thing is, I don’t do DEI, I’m a historian of the Black American experience. A reminder that DEI is just a dog whistle about suppressing history, if you need a reminder.
